I thought these guys were all about “Forward,” to quote the Obama campaign. This morning, on Chuck Todd’s “The Daily Rundown,” the “Lean Forward” network aka the 24/7 televised insane asylum, MS-NBC, unveiled its latest strategy to distract voters from the ridiculous double talk coming from the Obama campaign on its crushing health care taxes. They’ve apparently decided to endlessly bleat that while Mitt Romney was governor Massachusetts, he called the funding mechanism for his health care law a “penalty,” when it was really a “tax;” therefore, that issue is off the table. Does that strategy sound familiar? “Nothing to see hear. Conversation over.” That’s essential for them because once they allow a debate on substance, they lose. So, they’ve elected to try the “I Know You Are, But What Am I” approach that worked so well in the playground.
In an interesting sidebar, in what seems like an odd coincidence, the guy who supposedly made the stunning statement agreeing with the Obama administration that we shouldn’t call a “penalty” a “tax,” was Romney Senior Advisor Eric “Etch-a-Sketch” Fehrnstrom. Over the weekend, literally hours before Mr. Fehrnstrom’s appearance on MS-NBC, Rupert Murdoch tweeted: “Met Romney last week,” Murdoch wrote Sunday. “Tough [OBAMA] Chicago pros will be hard to beat unless he drops old friends from team and hires some real pros. Doubtful.”
What’s going on? Is Chuck Todd working with Rupert Murdoch to help the Romney campaign to keep things interesting? That doesn’t seem likely. What say you?
