Many have asked where alleged Aurora, Colorado mass murderer James Holmes got the money to purchase his arsenal, estimated to cost $6000. Where does an unemployed grad student get that kind of cash? From you, of course!. From USA Today:

University of Colorado officials disclosed Monday that massshooting suspect James Holmes was being paid $26,000 a year for his studies — money that could have financed the cache of firearms, ammunition and explosive devices found in his apartment.

And guess where the University of Colorado got the money for the grant? From the federal government! From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:

The University of Colorado says shooting suspect James Holmes had a federal grant to study neuroscience.

University spokeswoman Jacque Montgomery said Saturday that Holmes was one of six neuroscience students at the school to get National Institutes of Health grant money. She didn’t know how much money he got.

The NIH says the university decides who gets the grants. Criteria for receiving the grant weren’t immediately clear.

Keep that in mind next time the One appears before a group of breathless, wet-behind-the-ears kids and starts screeching about needed to confiscate more of our money to fund education.
