From a slightly-agitated Politico:
Mitt Romney blasted Rick Santorum’s campaign Tuesday for robocalls encouraging Democrats in Michigan to vote in the Republican primary, blasting the tactic as “outrageous and disgusting.”
“It’s a dirty trick. It’s outrageous to see Rick Santorum team up with the Obama people and go out after the union labor in Detroit to try to get them to vote against me,” Romney said on “Fox & Friends” on the day of the Michigan and Arizona primaries. “Look, we don’t want Democrats deciding who our nominee’s going to be, we want Republicans deciding who our nominees are going to be.”
First of all, if we don’t want Democrats picking our nominees, why do we pay any attention to their incessant polls? Well, ok, we don’t, but the party establishment does. But I digress …
Here’s the part that caused me to raise a skeptical eyebrow: “It’s outrageous to see Rick Santorum team up with the Obama people and go out after the union labor in Detroit to try to get them to vote against me.” Could Mitt actually be behind the robo calls, which make it possible for him to position himself as the guy the Obama campaign fears most? As you know, I have contended for some time that, but for the missing messy divorce, Romney is the candidate genetically-engineered by David Axelrod to run against the Dear Reader. So, the Romney campaign puts out these robo calls and then expresses outrage at this “dirty trick” that proves their guy is the candidate Obama fears most.
What say you?
