Axelrod’s Game

It’s obvious that the White House, realizing that their only hope is low turnout from conservatives, is to choose the GOP nominee. and make sure that he is a “moderate.” So, they want to run against Mitt Romney, who they can paint as a Wall Street fat cat/flip flopper, whose Massaschusetts health care plan was the model for their hideous federal government takeover of our health care system. Their strategy is to force Romney to spend a lot of dough fending off Perry and Cain, knowing that the latter doesn’t have enough cash to compete, and hoping that the former will continue to throw up on himself, so that ultimately they can run against Mitt and use his erstwhile primary opponents’ attacks about Romneycare against him. The proof is here from that satellite branch of the White House Press Office known as MS-NBC:

Newly obtained White House records provide fresh details on how senior Obama administration officials used Mitt Romney’s landmark health-care law in Massachusetts as a model for the new federal law, including recruiting some of Romney’s own health care advisers and experts to help craft the act now derided by Republicans as “Obamacare.”

The records, gleaned from White House visitor logs reviewed by NBC News, show that senior White House officials had a dozen meetings in 2009 with three health-care advisers and experts who helped shape the health care reform law signed by Romney in 2006, when the Republican presidential candidate was governor of Massachusetts. One of those meetings, on July 20, 2009, was in the Oval Office and presided over by President Barack Obama, the records show.
