Big Sis’ Dept. of Homeland Security Finally Responds to Senate Demand for Ammo Info but its Numbers Don’t Add-Up

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is finally attempting to explain away its massive ammunition purchases, claiming they’re all for training and operations, but the numbers provided to Senator Tom Coburn’s  (R-OK) office aren’t penciling out. Instead of extinguishing the conspiracy theories, DHS may have succeeded in fueling them, as Joe Miller points out in this post from Restoring Liberty.

I’ve been personally following this story and requesting an explanation for almost a year from my elected officials, who have remained strangely silent.  You can damn well bet that if a Republican was in the White House, or–gasp–if we had a TEA Party president, that there would be congressional investigations and media coverage not seen since Watergate. Brother Sarge and I discussed the fact that not only does DHS have enough arms, equipment, and ammo to fight a 100 Years War, but the latest order of 1.6 “billion” rounds of ammunition, on top of the billions of rounds already purchased, is more than was used in the entire Normandy Invasion in WW2!  This was a startling revelation as we generally don’t think in such numbers.

THE DEPARTMENT OF HOMELAND SECURITY IS AND WAS NEVER INTENDED TO BE AN ARMED BODY!

The United States Department of Homeland Security (DHS) is a cabinet department of the United States federal government, created in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks, with the primary responsibilities of protecting the United States of America and U.S. territories (including protectorates) from and responding to terrorist attacks, man-made accidents, and natural disasters.  It is also supposed to be an information clearinghouse that shares information among the military, the CIA, and law enforcement.  But from 2003 to the present, DHS has absorbed a dozen or more federal agencies.

What is particularly troubling to me is not only are we “arming to the teeth” many traditionally non-combat federal agencies, but that these agencies are autonomous and appear to answer to no one, save the DHS.  They bound by no oath to “protect and defend the Constitution.”  As of this writing, I can locate none.  Are they in any way answerable to Congress or the people?  Or are they answerable only to “the one,” Barack Hussein Obama?  (mmm, mmm, mmm)  It appears to be that they are much like Ceasar’s Pretorian Guard, yet another example of Obama’s well-known transparency.

WHO DOES OUR GOVERNMENT PLAN TO FIGHT HERE ON AMERICAN SOIL?

Something sinister and nameless appears to be taking shape within America, while apathy and political blindness abound.  Call your elected officials and demand an investigation along with a cease and desist on these arms, ammunition, and military equipment purchases until we have the answers and constitutionally enforcible protections in place for American citizens.
