Bradley Cooper transformed himself into Chris Kyle. How did he do it?

As you probably know, Texas governor, Greg Abbott has declared February 2, Chris Kyle Day in Texas. It’s a day to celebrate the life of this American hero, but bittersweet because is also the second anniversary of the day that Eddie Ray Routh, a 27 year-old Marine, killed not only Chris, but his friend Chad Littlefield. Routh’s trial will begin one week from today. (More about the trial, and Routh’s troubled history here.)

If you have seen Clint Eastwood’s terrific movie, “American Sniper,” you know that Bradley Cooper transformed himself into Chris Kyle. According to Taya Kyle, Chris’ widow, describes seeing the movie for the first time. “”Initially I was so focused on Chris and making sure that it honored him, but I just lost myself. It was so Chris. It wasn’t Bradley on the screen. It was Chris.”

So how did the guy from “American Hustle,” and “Silver Linings Playbook” become Chris Kyle? By an insane regimen of working out 5 hours a day and consuming 6,000 quality, muscle-building calories a day, that’s how.

Since working out is one of my passions, I really enjoyed reading this WaPo article about Cooper’s transformation. I’ll be on the lookout for a piece from his trainer, Jason Walsh, about the specifics of those workouts. In the meantime, check out the article. Enjoy!
