Cue the Sad Trombone: The Single Mom Obama Cited As an Obamacare Success Story Can’t Afford the Insurance

Just three days after our Dear Reader cited Jessica Sanford as an example of the type of person his health care scheme was designed to help, she was informed by the Washington state health exchange that her tax credit had been miscalculated. Now she’s getting nothing, and she’s going to be uninsured. Here’s what Obama said about Ms. Sanford on October 21.

“I recently received a letter from a woman named Jessica Sanford in Washington state. And here’s what she wrote, I am a single mom, no child support, self-employed. and I haven’t had insurance for 15 years because it’s too expensive. I was crying the other day when I signed up, so much stress lifted.”

Not exactly.

From CNN:

This CNN report also notes, as we pointed out this morning, that Sec. of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius was informed last March that the Obamacare website would not work.

  1. LOL!…i came here expecting to find a thriving community of rt wing-nuts, and what a disappointment!…hate speech and blatant lies are not so popular these days…sad trombone for you. Terri!

    • What do you think of the CNN story?

      • I think it’s intellectually dishonest…i feel bad that she got her hopes up for that great price, but her options are still more affordable than it was for her to begin with…and her son now has a plan for $30 a month…the website is a mess, and but there is too much that we don’t know about her, without invading Ms. Sanford’s privacy …

From what i have been able to glean, she hasn’t had insurance for the past 15 years to begin with…she was more than likely refused or would have had to pay an astronomical amount due to her son having ADHD, before the ACA (other pr-existing? …I’m sure they just plain refused to insure her…now they HAVE to insure her …

She pays $250+ an month for her child’s medication, and on Greta’s show they said the silver plan would be $350+… they said nothing about the deductible for some odd reason…regardless, if they went with that plan, it’s only $100 more than his current prescription and they both get insurance…

You see, the rabbit hole is deep here, she WAS able to get her son a policy for $30 a month, and weather she will be eligible for a subsidy is still up in the air…and the Obama admin has offered to help her further…I can see why this story hasn’t gone too far..

Before ACA, i was in the same boat as she is…$600 a month was the best i could find, for my son and I…with my subsidy it’s now $96 a month for the silver plan and a 3 k deductible

if you make 50k a year, you shouldn’t be getting a subsidy anyway…unless you have a ton of kids, but that’s another debate…

PS…Google spell check is not working very well since their last update, and i can’t spell!…
