On the eve of Attorney General Eric Holder’s latest return to Capitol Hill, his sixth, to attempt to explain his many changing stories about when he learned about the disgraceful Fast and Furious operation that resulted in the death of Border Agent Brian Terry, we learn that he needs more time to turn over documents requested by Darryl Issa’s committee. From the Washington Post:
Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole said that the Feb. 9 deadline to submit all documents on the botched gun operation set this week by Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.), chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, was “impossible to meet.”
“We will continue in good faith to produce materials, but it simply will not be possible to finish the collection, processing and review of materials by the date sought in your most recent letter,” Cole wrote Tuesday in a five-page letter to Issa.
Of course, it’s understandable that they are having a difficult time getting this stuff together for Congressman Issa. After all, those guys at Injustice have been so preoccupied with higher priorities, such as
- using the levers of our Justice Department to thwart efforts to prevent vote fraud
- funnel buckets of cash into the coffers of thinly-disguised ACORN stand-ins to make up for “unfair” lending practices
- suing states for attempting to enforce our borders.
Granted, the controversy has swirled around this Fast and Furious thing, ever since it was learned that 2 walked guns turned up at the scene of Agent Terry’s murder, which should have put it on the front burner. Agent Terry’s murder prompted Sen. Grassley to demand some answers. On February 4, 2011 Deputy Attorney General Ronald Welch sent him a letter denying knowledge of gun walking on the very same day that, according to an email exchange with Mexican officials, another Holder Deputy Attorney General, Lanny Breuer, discussed allowing guns to walk south of the border. In an amazing coincidence, it is the documents about internal proceedings after the false and misleading February 4, 2011 letter to Sen. Grassley that they are having trouble producing. Naturally they wouldn’t even know where to start looking for that stuff, which is no doubt in dust-covered boxes WAY in the back of some long-forgotten closet.Either that, or that don’t have enough interns, high-capacity shredders and geeks expert in wiping those pesky hard drives.
This scandal alone is sufficient grounds for the president to heed the growing number of members of Congress demanding that Eric Holder get the heave ho. At best, it demonstrates that Mr. Holder is incompetent for failing to know what was going on in his own department. Of course, no one believes that exceedingly charitable interpretation of the actions of the Obama Justice Department. Under Barack Obama and Eric Holder, the Department of Justice’s mission is not to neutrally enforce the law to protect the rights of every citizen. Instead, it has become the Department of Social Justice, effectively another arm of ACORN, obsessed with redressing a never-ending and unredressable list of racial grievances by doling out under the table reparations, courtesy of taxpayers, and creating policies that punish Whitey for 300+ years of repression against “people of color.” That is precisely the reason that Holder has kept his job. If the Operation Fast and Furious cover up unravels further, and Obama fears that it will raise the specter of Rev. Jeremiah Wright, Holder will probably be thrown under the election year bus. That’s unlikely, though, since the Lame Stream Media has instituted an official black out on any mention of Rev. Wright or any other aspect of this administration’s racialist agenda.
I think Eric Holder might have been correct about many Americans being “cowards on the issue of race,” because it is race and only race that has insulated America’s first black Attorney General from being let go. Like the equally “historic” man who installed him in office, he wields race as a cudget every bit as skillfully as the members of the New Black Panther Party outside that Philadelphia polling place. Will anyone have the stones to talk about that during this year’s election campaign?
