Where’s my shocked face? Sen. Mark Kirk (R-Not Really) just became the latest public official to endorse so-called same sex marriage. He released the following statement:
“When I climbed the Capitol steps in January, I promised myself that I would return to the Senate with an open mind and greater respect for others,” he said. “Same-sex couples should have the right to civil marriage. Our time on this earth is limited, I know that better than most. Life comes down to who you love and who loves you back — government has no place in the middle.”
I may be missing something, so please set me straight (no pun intended) if I am, but by that standard, what prevents someone from marrying his dog? Or perhaps an inanimate object? Whose to say what “love” is all about, and to dare to measure who “loves you back?”
I wish Sen. Kirk a full recovery from his stroke, and I mean no disrespect, but with this statement Sen. Kirk joins the long list of Illinois politicians, including but not limited to Sen. Dick “Eddie Haskell” Durbin, Blago, and Barack Hussein Obama, who are national embarrassments.
