You Can’t Make This Up File: Blago Prosecutor Going After Gov. Chris Christie

From the Chicago Sun-Times (H/T Rebel M):

Reid Schar, the lead prosecutor in Rod Blagojevich’s case, has been tapped to head up the investigation into allegations of political payback under New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie’s administration.

Schar, who left the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Chicago and joined Jenner & Block, is serving as special counsel.

“We can confirm that the firm has been retained,” Phillip McGowan, Global Communications Manager, tells the Sun-Times, adding that Schar is serving as special counsel.…

Schar was the lead prosecutor in the trial and retrial of disgraced Illinois governor Rod Blagojevich, who is now serving 14 years behind bars after he was convicted of attempting to sell Barack Obama’s vacant U.S. Senate seat.

“It’s vital to have someone of the caliber of Mr. Schar joining us in this effort,” Assembly Speaker Vincent Prieto (D-Hudson/Bergen) said in a statement. “A potential misuse of taxpayer resources for political purposes is a serious matter that requires an astute legal eye with experience in this realm to help guide the process. I look forward to the assistance he will offer under the leadership of Chairman Wisniewski.”

Gee, you don’t suppose–no, now I’m thinking like one of those black helicopter spotting, tinfoil hat wearing conspiracy theory believers, but here goes–is there any chance that someone in the Obama Regime has something to do with this appointment? It’s probably just an amazing coincidence, and once again I am just confused.

It’s not the first time that current events have had me scratching my noggin. I’ve been confused about this Blago prosecution for years. Blago was convicted of trying to sell a Senate seat. Who was he trying to sell it to? Who was the purchaser? How can there be a deal to sell something without a purchaser? Why wouldn’t brilliant Patrick Fitzgerald wait until that evil doer showed up so he could also be prosecuted? Why doesn’t anyone seem to care?

Gov. Christie, I think our contributor J.D. Longstreet’s piece from earlier today here nailed it. You thought your fellow “Jersey guy” Bruce Springsteen, who called you from Air Force One, while hanging out with another dear friend, Barack Hussein Obama, was your friend. The Boss was on Jimmy Fallon’s show last night mocking you and your current troubles. Is the One assisting the his fellow Democrats in trying to destroy you?

It’s great that this Reid Schar guy is using his considerable investigative and prosecutorial skills to go after something important like this lane closure thing, rather than wasting them on “phony scandals” like the murder of four Americans in Benghazi, Eric Holder’s continued stonewalling of Congressional committees investigating his Fast and Furious gun-running scheme, or the targeting of Barack Obama’s political “enemies” by the IRS. They’ve got that last one covered. One of Eric Holder’s lieutenants, and an Obama campaign donor, Barbara Bosserman is on the case. I guess that Valerie Jarrett had too many other things on her plate to work on the investigation.

As they like to say in Chicago, “Move along, nothing to see here.”

  1. I think this is a matter of: when a guy has a bad day at the office he comes home and kicks the dog. In this case, the office is his home and he’s having a bad day with the dog- if you get my drift.

Christie needs to lawyer up real quick. Is Dan Webb available? Jim Thompson? Anyone but Joel Brodsky.

I suspect Moochelle is on the war-path, so somebody is going to jail. And when this is all over but the shouting, this Schar guy ends up as Solicitor General or something. Obviously, Fitzgerald is too busy on the FISA court.

    • I think that Christie knows that he needs to lawyer up. Now that the bitch is back no doubt Barack is walking on eggs, that’s for sure. If someone has to go to jail, how about the Obamas?
