Today, as one of the poster models for last week’s mascot groups, blacks, serial sperm donor, Tracy Martin will stoke the fires of racial entitlement today at a hearing on Capitol Hill, the Race-Baiter-in-Chief will travel to Illinois to do what he does best, read from his ever-present TelePrompTer before another audience of wet-behind-the-ears kids. Have you noticed how this insufferable gasbag always wants to bloviate in front of audiences of backward children, whose B.S. detectors remain uncalibrated by life experience? More of that today, when he talks about his latest campaign to announce his latest pivot to the economy. You need a spreadsheet to keep track of all of his “pivots to the economy,” which consist of trying to distract the public from his war on job creators and the resulting anemic levels of employment.
Someone should ask Mr. Martin if he is offended that the tragic death of his son, which was completely avoidable if anyone had suggested to the youngster that you don’t punch people, jump on top of them, and use “ground and pound” MMA-style fighting tactics to smash their heads against concrete, is part of Obama’s campaign to get African-Americans to think about America’s pervasive racism instead of their levels of unemployment. Rep. Steve Stockman (R-TX) has chronicled it with his ” Obama Failometer.” He released his latest findings on July 8, including:
No one has suffered more economically under Obama than black Americans. Obama’s election and re-election has meant crippling poverty for the black community.
This Obama Failometer score portion is calculated by taking the monthly unemployment rate for blacks and subtracting the monthly unemployment rate for all Americans, and multiplying it by 100 to balance it against other factors.
The Bureau of Labor Statistics reports the black unemployment rate for April was a depressing 13.7 percent, while the national overall rate was 7.6 percent. That is a gap of 6.1 percent, is wider than last month’s gap. This portion of the Obama Failometer Score is 610.
Compare Obama’s performance to Bush’s. The highest monthly unemployment rate ever for blacks under Bush was 12.1 percent. Obama’s lowest rate was 12.7 percent in January, a figure he largely inherited. He has never performed as well as Bush’s worst black unemployment rate.
Worse than George W. Bush? And in those days, people weren’t getting shot for just standing there wearing a hoodie, right Mr. Martin?
As for young people, from the South Bend Tribune:
The data on teen and young adult unemployment are interesting. In June 2009, national unemployment among 16- to 19-year-olds was 24.7 percent. As of June 2013 it stands at 24.0 percent. So the teen unemployment rate has barely budged in four years as the general unemployment rate has declined by one fifth. In the 1980s recovery the teen unemployment rate fell from 22.9 percent to 19.2 percent over the comparable four-year period.
A similar story holds in the national data for young adults age 20 to 24 years. Their unemployment rate declined from 15.2 percent to 13.5 percent from June 2009 to June 2013. It declined in a much more dramatic fashion in the 1980s, though, from 14.6 percent in June 1982 to 10.6 percent in June 1986.
The difference between the 1980’s and today? Two words: “Reagan” and “Obama.”
Of course, despite the baloney that B. Hussein will serve up at Knox College in a few hours, things are still very tough for everyone in this economy. From the Washington Times:
Few economists would dispute that the worst is over from the Great Recession, which began in December 2007 and ended in June 2009, six months into Mr. Obama’s first term. The unemployment rate, which peaked at 10 percent in October 2009, was 7.6 percent last month. When Mr. Obama was first inaugurated, the jobless rate was 7.8 percent.
But the “U-6” unemployment rate — a measure of discouraged workers who have settled for part-time jobs or given up looking altogether — is slightly worse than when Mr. Obama became president. The U-6 rate in January 2009 was 14.2 percent, and last month it climbed 0.5 percentage points to 14.3 percent. Critics say Mr. Obama’s policies bear some of the blame for a sluggish pace compared with other U.S. economic recoveries.
So there are more discouraged workers and people who are settling for part-time work today than there were before Barack Obama and his merry band of Marxists started their project to “remake” America. I guess the good news is that they’ll be able to be at home on the couch for what will no doubt be another very inspiring speech.
