Matt Lewis reports at The Daily Caller:
On the heels of Jon Stewart’s mockery of Harry Reid, comes another strong rebuke of Reid’s Koch Brothers rhetoric — this time from Daniel Schulman, a senior editor at Mother Jones, and author of the new book, Sons of Wichita: How the Koch Brothers Became America’s Most Powerful and Private Dynasty.
During a recent interview on NPR’s Fresh Air, host Terry Gross asked the reporter and author about Reid’s over-the-top attacks, and Schulman responded, saying
You know, I think it’s a very dicey strategy by Reid. He has actually come out and called the Koch Brothers un-American. Now, that’s kind of an absurd thing to say. And it’s almost McCarthyite rhetoric. From my vantage point, I think the Democrats have really gone overboard in hammering the Kochs in the way that they have. I’m not sure that this is going to be a very successful election strategy.
Of course, like all leftists, for whom politics is everything, this writer avoids the glaring issue raised by Sen. Reid’s bizarre rants; that is, the distinct possibility that he is suffering from dementia.
Earlier this week, Sen. Reid took a break from demonizing the Koch Brothers for no reason, and had his democrat party, still in charge of the U.S. Senate, take up one of the most pressing issues affecting our country today, the name of the Washington, D.C. NFL football team. The always insightful Mark Levin’s take: Harry Reid is the Senate’s Donald Sterling. From the Washington Times:
Conservative talk show giant Mark Levin took to the airwaves to denounce a Democratic-controlled Senate that he slammed for hypocrisy, in effect asking: How can you demand the Redskins change its NFL name, yet stand by racist statements made by your own party leader, Harry Reid?
The Blaze reported that Mr. Levin seemed to reference the time when Mr. Reid praised President Obama for his ability to speak with no “negro dialect.”
In 2010, Mr. Reid was forced to apologize for quoted remarks in the book, “Game Change.” The authors wrote that Mr. Reid said privately that he “was wowed by Obama’s oratorical gifts and believed that the country was ready to embrace a black presidential candidate, especially one such as Obama — a ‘light-skinned’ African American ‘with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one,’ ” CNN reported.
On his most recent show, Mr. Levin blasted the 50 Democrats in the Senate who wrote to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to press him to support the Redskins’ name-change, calling it racist.
“They haven’t done a damn thing for minority unemployment in this country … in fact, they haven’t done a damn thing for anybody in this country — but this, they think is important,” Mr. Levin said, The Blaze reported. “Did the Democrat Party act quickly and expel Harry Reid [for his racial comments]? Of course not. That’s different. Even though he’s the Donald Sterling of the Senate? Of course not — that’s different.”
Dementia ain’t pretty.
