The Left, they never learn, do they? Remember this September 9, 2016 speech by the defeated democrat nominee, Hillary Clinton?
Note the crowd laughter when she disses Trump supporters. Arrogant, condescending liberals are so unattractive!
Right after the election, the Left’s Demon of the Week was Steve Bannon of Breitbart, who they accused of anti-Semitism. Not only did it seem bizarre that Donald Trump, who daughter Ivanka converted Judaism when she married Jared Kushner, would hire an anti-Semite, these are the same people who have had a slobbering love affair with Barack Obama, who for 20 years attended a church pastored by a screeching Jew hater.
Now they are attacking Sen. Jeff Sessions over 30 year old allegations of making “racist” statements. As usual, they don’t know what they are talking about. As Mark Hemingway wrote in the Weekly Standard:
Sessions’s actual track record certainly doesn’t suggest he’s a racist. Quite the opposite, in fact. As a U.S. Attorney he filed several cases to desegregate schools in Alabama. And he also prosecuted Klansman Henry Francis Hays, son of Alabama Klan leader Bennie Hays, for abducting and killing Michael Donald, a black teenager selected at random. Sessions insisted on the death penalty for Hays. When he was later elected the state Attorney General, Sessions followed through and made sure Hays was executed. The successful prosecution of Hays also led to a $7 million civil judgment against the Klan, effectively breaking the back of the KKK in Alabama.
Correction: A previous version of this post identified Henry Francis Hays as an Alabama KKK head. He was actually the son of one: Bennie Hays, who, per his obituary, was accused of “instigating” the murder for which Henry Hays was executed. The story has been updated.
The story also notes that perhaps going after Sessions was a dry run by Sen. Ted Kennedy for his “Borking” of the magnificent Robert Bork.
I guess when all you can do is scream “racist” when you can’t win a substantive argument, that’s what you’ll do, but it’s a shame that they are willing to slander a good man like Sen. Sessions, who will be confirmed.
