A Week in Bizarro World-Today on The Teri O’Brien Show

This week was one of bizarre spectacles, over and above the 2nd inauguration of Barack Hussein Obama, praise be his name. That event featured Richard Blanco’s poem “One Today.” “My face your face” is part I remember. Seriously? “My ass, your ass,” I thought. Of course, I’m probably just a peasant who doesn’t appreciate great art from a man who is both Latino and an open homosexual, and therefore, above criticism.  Then the great speech by the One himself. I didn’t notice. Did they hand out the little red books to the assembled cadres there or is Organizing for Action going to send those out using their tax-deductible contributions?

In other bizarro world events, consider the following:

  1. After making sure that anyone who might challenge her narrative had laid their cards on the table before she went on the record, Sec. of State, Hillary “What Difference Does it Make?” Clinton finally recovered from her vapors and appeared before the Senate Foreign Relations Committee and the House Foreign Affairs Committee to tell her story about the murder of four Americans in Benghazi. Libya on September 11, 2012. Her acolytes in the Lame Stream Media praised both her spunky pushback against the Republican dolts who dared to pose serious questions, and her tearful recalling of her greeting flag-draped coffins at Andrews Air Force Base. Missing from their slobbering reports was any mention of the glaring irony of a woman who cut her teeth in the Watergate investigation, pursuing dishonesty in the Nixon administration, raising her voice to proclaim that such dishonesty should make no difference. Nor did they mention the ridiculous performance by her former Democrats, who agreed that it’s time to “move on” from the Obama administration’s many shifting stories about four dead Americans, but who wanted hearings on the Bush administration’s 2003 decision to invade Iraq, a decision, for which, just sayin’, Mrs. Clinton voted “yea,” a fact that they also failed to mention. Also missing was any mention of her vow to pursue to ends of the earth the heinous film maker who caused all this trouble in the first place, except her really didn’t, and anyway, it’s time to move on.
  2. Meanwhile, a U.S. Senator who at one time had her own concealed carry permit because of fears for her own safety, presented her plan to disarm her fellow Americans. In another irony, she and her fellow gun-grabbers bleat incessantly about the phony “gun show loophole,” while presenting their very own gun show, a presser which was even opened with a prayer, an apparent loophole of their own. Did Barry Lynn’s beeper go off? Is the ACLU preparing a lawsuit? What happened to their precious “separation of church and state?”

Of course, if any of these people appreciated irony, they would take Speaker Newt Gingrich up on his proposal that we hold gun control hearings in Chicago, which just happens to have both the strictest gun control laws in the country and three times the murder rate of New York City, and double that of Los Angeles. How can that be? There’s a real head scratcher.

Lame duck Sec. of Defense Leon Panetta dropped a bomb while going out the door, lifting the ban on women surviving directly in combat, a decision no doubt calculated by the One’s administration to be less politically radioactive if done by someone who is leaving Washington to return to his walnuts in California. With sequestration looming, three more Americans killed in Algeria in the aftermath of the “Arab spring,” and al Qaeda clearly not decimated, but on the march, is this hat tip to political correctness, another shiny object that they hope will distract us from their disastrous foreign policy? What will be the impact on our military? We’ll get the 411 from our guest Elaine Donnelly, of the Center for Military Readiness.

Also joining us will be Leslie Eastman, contributor to the terrific blog, Legal Insurrection and member of the San Diego Tea Party. We’ll get her take on what the GOP needs to do to get its mojo back, and time permitting, ask her her opinion of Pat Robertson’s latest “there he goes again.” You didn’t hear about that? Don’t miss it!

Tune in today for the rest of the story.

Hope Springs Eternal

In President Obama’s ‘Arab Spring’ speech he is quoted as saying:

“For all the challenges that lie ahead, we see many reasons to be hopeful. In Egypt, we see it in the efforts of young people who led protests. In Syria, we see it in the courage of those who brave bullets while chanting, ‘peaceful,’ ‘peaceful.’ In Benghazi, a city threatened with destruction, we see it in the courthouse square where people gather to celebrate the freedoms that they had never known. Across the region, those rights that we take for granted are being claimed with joy by those who are prying lose the grip of an iron fist.”

That was May 19, 2011. What he failed to mention in this quote was the people “prying lose the grip of an iron fist”, we now find out, were of dubious moral turpitude. The New york Times reports:

WASHINGTON — The Obama administration secretly gave its blessing to arms shipments to Libyan rebels from Qatar last year, but American officials later grew alarmed as evidence grew that Qatar was turning some of the weapons over to Islamic militants, according to United States officials and foreign diplomats.

No evidence has emerged linking the weapons provided by the Qataris during the uprising against Col. Muammar el-Qaddafi to the attack that killed four Americans at the United States diplomatic compound in Benghazi, Libya, in September.

Here’s the best part:

American officials say that the United Arab Emirates first approached the Obama administration during the early months of the Libyan uprising, asking for permission to ship American-built weapons that the United States had supplied for the emirates’ use. The administration rejected that request, but instead urged the emirates to ship weapons to Libya that could not be traced to the United States.

“The U.A.E. was asking for clearance to send U.S. weapons,” said one former official. “We told them it’s O.K. to ship other weapons.”

Libyans murdered his ambassador. But there is no evidence the weapons came from the United States. According to local reports the F.B.I. spent three hours at the consulate almost three weeks after the murders.

As for the assertion “In Syria, we see it in the courage of those who brave bullets while chanting, ‘peaceful,’ ‘peaceful.’ ”

His Syrian opposition is murdering prisoners. (Warning extremely graphic.)

What’s a tin-horn dictator to do? Why, dust off the chemical weapons, of course.

Meanwhile, the Egyptians ran Mursi out of the palace.

The Turks, the ones that wouldn’t allow the 4th Infantry into Iraq, acquired patriot missile batteries.

Iran, that bastion of Liberty, Democracy, and progress nearly melted down a reactor:

According to our intelligence sources, Russian scientists and engineers were rushed from Moscow to Bushehr when Russian leaders including Vladimir Putin were warned that the danger of an explosion at Bushehr was high. Neither Moscow nor Tehran reported what was happening. Now they are racing against the clock to get the reactor back on stream.

The cause:

“Indicators showed that some small external parts were… in the [Bushehr] reactor vessel….” They were identified as “bolts beneath the fuel cells.”

More like spare change.

Actual quote from “The Audacity of Hope” [pg. 261]: Of course, not all my conversations in immigrant communities follow this easy pattern. In the wake of 9/11, my meetings with Arab and Pakistani Americans, for example, have a more urgent quality, for the stories of detentions and FBI questioning and hard stares from neighbors have shaken their sense of security and belonging. They have been reminded that the history of immigration in this country has a dark underbelly; they need specific assurances that their citizenship really means something, that America has learned the right lessons from the Japanese internments during World War II, and that I will stand with them should the political winds shift in an ugly direction.

I swear, this guy is the Anti-Midas.

Would-Be Dictator/Egyptian President Morsi Does an Obama

We frequently comment on the breathtaking lawlessness of the Obama administration. It was only a couple of days ago that, while in Burma, the One said

“As President, I cannot just impose my will on Congress — the Congress of the United States — even though sometimes I wish I could. The legislative branch has its own powers and its own prerogatives, and so they check my power and balance my power.”

He wishes he could impose his will on Congress? There’s the understatement of the century, although, I’m a bit surprised he would say that, since in the past, he hasn’t had to impose his will. When they won’t go along, he has simply bypassed Congress. Consider the de facto DREAM Act, enacted last summer by executive fiat. Going forward, he might not even have to deal with the minimal criticism he received for that and similar actions from bitter clingers like us, since it appears that John Boehner appears ready to lie down for him. I guess Obama’s contempt for the Constitution and his behavior in office, have caused Speaker Boehner to experience a temporary memory lapse, making him forget not only that there are actually 3 branches of government, but also the reasons that we gave the House back to the GOP in 2010. (Hint: it wasn’t to allow Barack Hussein Obama free rein to impose his radical agenda without opposition.)

Today, there are riots in Egypt because President Mohammed Morsi has decided that he doesn’t want to deal with those irritating courts and judges that might try to stop him from doing something he wants to do. From CBS News:

Opponents and supporters of Mohammed Morsi clashed across Egypt on Friday, the day after the president granted himself sweeping new powers that critics fear can allow him to be a virtual dictator. At least 15 were reported injured. …

Tens of thousands of pro-democracy activists converged on Cairo’s Tahrir Square, angered at the decisions by Morsi. The decrees include exempting himself from judicial review, as well as a panel writing the new constitution and the upper house of parliament, and the power to enact any other measure he deems necessary to deal with a “threat” to Egypt’s “revolution.”

Way to go, Morsi! Clearly, you have mastered one of the keys to success. Model your behavior on those who have already done it. If you want to be a dictator, learn from the best. Nothing succeeds like success!
