Biggest Lies of 2012: Benghazi

Here’s what Barack Hussein Obama said on Sunday, December 30, 2012 on “Meet the Press” when asked about the murder of four Americans on September 11, 2012, in Benghazi, Libya, the first time that an American ambassador has been killed in the line of duty since 1979..

GREGORY: Let me ask you about a couple of foreign policy notes. After the attack in Benghazi, is there a need for more accountability so that this doesn’t happen again? And do you know who was behind the attack at this point? (emphasis mine in every case here)

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Two points. Number one, I think that Tom Pickering and Mike Mullen who headed up the– the review board did a very thorough job in identifying what were some severe problems in diplomatic security. And they provided us with a series of recommendations. Many of them were already starting to be implemented. Secretary Clinton has indicated that she is going to implement all of them.

What I’ve– my message to the State Department has been very simple. And that is we’re going to solve this. We’re not going to be defensive about it. We’re not going to pretend that this was not a problem. This was a huge problem. And we’re going to implement every single recommendation that’s been put forward.

Some individuals have been held accountable inside of the State Department and what I’ve said is that we are going to fix this to make sure that this does not happen again, because these are folks that I send into the field. We understand that there are dangers involved but, you know, when you read the report and it confirms what we had already seen, you know, based on some of our internal reviews; there was just some sloppiness, not intentional, in terms of how we secure embassies in areas where you essentially don’t have governments that have a lot of capacity to protect those embassies. So we’re doing a thorough-going review. Not only will we implement all the recommendations that were made, but we’ll try to do more than that. You know, with respect to who carried it out, that’s an ongoing investigation. The FBI has sent individuals to Libya repeatedly. We have some very good leads, but this is not something that, you know, I’m going to be at liberty to talk about right now.

“Sloppiness?” That’s right up there with the murder of these four Americans as “bumps in the road” in its insensitivity, and it’s also extremely misleading. On December 31, 2012, the Senate–that’s the Democrat-controlled Senate–Committee on Homeland Security And Governmental Affairs-released a scathing report on the Benghazi disaster, concluding that

[I]n the months leading up to the attack on the Temporary Mission Facility in

Benghazi, there was a large amount of evidence gathered by the U.S. Intelligence

Community (IC) and from open sources that Benghazi was increasingly dangerous and

unstable, and that a significant attack against American personnel there was becoming

much more likely. While this intelligence was effectively shared within the Intelligence

Community (IC) and with key officials at the Department of State, it did not lead to a

commensurate increase in security at Benghazi nor to a decision to close the American

mission there, either of which would have been more than justified by the intelligence

presented.

Here’s what they mean.

The RSO (Regional Security Officer) in Libya compiled a list of 234 security incidents in Libya between June

2011 and July 2012, 50 of which took place in Benghazi, including the following notable incidents:

May 22, 2012-2 RPG’s hit the Red Cross/Red Crescent building in Benghazi. “Several days later, the Brigades of the Imprisoned Sheikh Omar Abdel Rahman claimed responsibility for this attack, accusing the ICRC of proselytizing in Libya.”

June 6, 2012-this same group of wackos claimed credit for blowing a hole in the wall of the U.S. Temporary Mission Facility in Benghazi  with an IED.

June 11, 2012-RPG attack on the convoy of the British Ambassador to Libya

June 18, 2012-”the Tunisian consulate in Benghazi was stormed by individuals

affiliated with Ansar al-Sharia Libya (AAS), allegedly because of “attacks by Tunisian

artists against Islam.”

So, “sloppiness” is a very generous, and dishonest, way for the One to characterize the reckless disregard that his State Department had for the safety of Americans serving harm’s way. Can there be any doubt about the reason? The Obama administration wanted to run out the pre-election clock on this disgraceful episode, which resulted from their desperate need to preserve the official story that our Dear Reader had destroyed al Qaeda, when in fact the terrorist organization is on the march, emboldened by the One’s “lead from behind” strategy. The only thing destroyed is their narrative, as evidenced by our terrorist enemy’s greatest success against their great Satan since the original 9/11 attacks, on the very anniversary of those first horrible attacks. The truth about what really happened would make the Obama administration look very bad, but fortunately a compliant media would make sure that it didn’t get out. Consider that for several weeks we’ve known the truth; specifically, that the intelligence community knew nearly immediately that the Benghazi attack was a pre-meditated, terrorist attack, and that the risible story everyone in the Obama administration tried to sell about a “spontaneous” demonstration caused by a YouTube video that almost no one saw wasn’t true. Did David “Howdy Doody” Gregory even offer the slightest challenge to the One’s assertion about the “ongoing investigation?” Yes, that was a rhetorical question. Of course he didn’t!

On the September 16 edition of The Teri O’Brien Show, the very day that Susan Rice made a politically-motivated horse’s hind end of herself on 5 Sunday shows, we played the audio for you, and told you at the time that this act was as phony as everything else about this bunch. More about that here.

John Nolte at Breitbart has an excellent summary of the coverup of the coverup here, citing a CBS News story, in which he notes

So, if what CBS is reporting is true, this is what we know now:

1. At the time, Susan Rice knew the information she repeated five times on five Sunday shows wasn’t true.

2. The edited talking points were never meant to deceive and conceal the fact that what happened in Libya was a terror attack. And yet, that’s exactly what Rice and the White House did for nearly two weeks.

3. Contrary to what the White House and media told us, the talking points were not edited to keep the group responsible for the attack from knowing we were on to them. Therefore…

4. We were lied to for reasons that had nothing to do with national security

5. The media’s going to allow the Obama Administration to get away with this. (Why else would CBS play down its own story the way they did this one?)

So what some have taken to calling “Benghazigate” is without question one of the biggest lies of 2012. Not that many people seem to care.

Why Mitt Lost, and Why He Didn’t: Today on the Teri O’Brien Show

One surefire sign that a theory is wrong is when it is embraced by not only NBC’s F. Chuck Todd and, David “Howdy Doody” Gregory, but also Matthew “Useful Idiot” Dowd, and Steve “Chris Matthews’ Bitch” Schmidt, the latter one of the architects of John McCain’s campaign. As previously noted here, if you look up “craven” and “loser,” you’ll discover an amazing exception to Merriam Webster’s usual policy, because Steve Schmidt’s picture appears next to both entries! This herd of independent thinkers are marching in Stalinist lockstep, reciting their explanation for why Romney lost, and as usual, they couldn’t be more wrong if they were getting their news from MS-NBC.

There are ten reasons that Mitt lost. I’ll share them, and get yours.

The behavior of the GOP leadership in the wake of their shellacking tells me that it’s time to backup the truck. What say you?

What are the implications of Barack Obama’s victory for issues important to conservatives, especially the Second Amendment? Now that he is re-elected, is he prepared to try to impose U.N.-sanctioned back door gun control on Americans?

The resignation of David Petraeus raises many interesting questions. Of course, like you, I’m quite sure that his sudden resignation right before Congressional hearings about the coverup of the murders of 4 Americans on September 11 in Benghazi is just a coincidence. I’m also certain it’s just another amazing coincidence that the Obama White House found out about the extramarital affair that led to Petraeus’ exit on Tuesday, Election Day, at 5 p.m. Why would anyone in the administration lie? It must be true.

Tune in today for the rest of the story.

Why We Lost: In a Word, Timidity

I was right about one thing. It was over by 11 p.m. Central. Unfortunately, I was wrong about Pennsylvania, Ohio, Virginia and Colorado. I was really, really wrong, and I was very surprised. It was more 2004 than 1980. Like you, I am disappointed, however, I am not one to dwell on disappointments. After all, life is full of disappointments, and given that the human mind can focus on only on thing at a time, if we ruminate about events that have happened, and that we have no power to change, we waste time and mental energy that we could use to do something constructive. What is constructive in the face of bad outcomes is to learn from them. So what have we learned? Why did Mitt Romney lose? In a word, timidity.

Mitt Romney is not, and never was, a conservative. Be honest. We all knew that. That’s why he wasn’t our first choice during the primaries. Up until that first debate, our support was anti-Obama, not pro-Romney. We all figured he was a much better choice than the current occupant of the Oval Office, and that once he was ensconced in office, we’d ride herd on him to make sure that he wouldn’t backslide into “moderation.” Mitt tried to play the role, but we should have known when he told that CPAC audience that he was a “severely conservative” governor, that, for him,  conservatism was a second language. No true believer would have ever said that. Mitt Romney is a pragmatic, businessman, a problem solver, but not an ideological conservative. He is that dreaded “Massachusetts moderate” that we feared. He had a genuine conservative on the team, Paul Ryan, but the Romney campaign muzzled him because they feared opening a can of worms on the issue of Medicare.

I think that their lack of ideological commitment is one reason that the Romney campaign allowed the demagogic attacks about Bain Capital over the summer to go on. Mitt underestimated the effectiveness of the class-envy card because he doesn’t understand the Left the way authentic conservatives do. It’s also why they didn’t paint a picture for the voters. The average voter, and not just the typical Obama low-information type, doesn’t understand what Bain Capital does, and how what it does creates jobs. It was incumbent on Gov. Romney to explain that. He didn’t.

Perhaps we can trace the loss to that third debate. Remember how we all were waiting for Mitt to take it to the One on his Benghazi coverup? It never happened. Why? I believe because he feared the inevitable bleating from the Lame Stream Media, accusing him of “politicizing” the murders that Obama’s failed policies caused. It’s easy to blame the Jurassic media. Yes, CBS facilitated the coverup by withholding part of the interview that Barack Obama did the day after the attack on the consulate, and yes, Candy Crowley gave her guy cover behind her ample skirts in the second debate, but those things were to be expected. Like those hard-working illegal aliens that many moderate Republicans want to give amnesty, it’s up to the GOP to do the work that the LSM won’t do; specifically, to make sure the people have the truth. His failure to do so on Libya, no doubt fearing antagonizing those precious “independents” and “suburban women” was fatal.

In his concession speech early this morning, Mitt said he put it all on the field. I’m sure he believes that, but in retrospect, it’s clear that that isn’t true. When Republicans are timid, they lose every time. When they articulate a clear conservative vision, they win. Ted Cruz won. Michele Bachman won. It can be done, but you can’t steal home with one foot on third base. Better to lose being bold than to lose with a craven campaign, walking on eggs and hoping people will figure out the reason they should vote for you.

I hope that we’ve learned once and for all that we shouldn’t nominate any more moderates, especially those from Massachusetts. Timidity is a non-starter, and always will be, in politics and in life in general.

More taxes, more debt, means more of the same. So it’s a sad day for our country, and a great day for Putin, the Iranians, those who want something from Obama’s stash, and fans of big government, but it is only one day.  Still, as we always have, we will persevere.

MUST READ: 5 Unanswered Questions About Benghazi, Plus Immigrants Getting Most of New Jobs

Four Republican senators, who as far as I can tell aren’t even illegal aliens, are doing the job that our usually ever-vigilant seekers of truth, the national Jurassic media, refuse to do, lest they risk decreasing Barack Obama’s re-election bid. Sens. McCain, Ayotte, Graham, and Johnson penned an op-ed that appears it today’s Washington Times. It begins:

Nearly two months after the murder of four American citizens in Benghazi, Libya, including U.S. Ambassador J. Christopher Stevens, there remain many more questions surrounding this tragedy than credible answers provided by the Obama administration. The American people want to know what happened on Sept. 11, 2012, and they deserve to hear an explanation directly from the president. Among the many questions that still need to be answered about the Benghazi attack, here are five of the most important ones.

It captures, in a few paragraphs, precisely what we need to know from the One, Hillary, Valerie and the rest of this lying bunch about 4 murdered Americans. As I have said for several weeks, it is time to put Valerie Jarrett and Susan Rice under oath. We could put Hillary under oath, but all we’re likely to hear is “I don’t recall.” We’ve seen that movie before.

It is an enraging disgrace to watch the Lame Stream Media pretend that these murders never happened!

Speaking of illegal aliens, this story also appears in today’s Washington Times, headlined “Two-thirds of jobs go to immigrants during Obama’s four years.”

Two-thirds of those who have found employment under President Obama are immigrants, both legal and illegal, according to an analysis that suggests immigration has soaked up a large portion of what little job growth there has been over the past three years. …

His [Steven A. Camorata, Research Director of The Center for Immigration Studies] numbers are stark: Since the first quarter of 2009, the number of immigrants of working age (16 to 65) who are employed has risen 2 million, from 21.2 million to 23.2 million. During the same time, native-born employment has risen just 1 million, to reach 119.9 million.

It’s a trend years in the making: Immigrants are working more, and native-born Americans are working less.

The Obama administration’s hallmark: lack of leadership at home and abroad.

Show Notes, 10/28/12: Obama’s Vision for America with Dinesh D’Souza and Stanley Kurtz, Diminished in the World, Suburbs Destroyed

Please scroll down for links to all the stories we discussed on the show.

We were delighted to welcome two major A-List guests to the show. First, author, scholar and now movie producer Dinesh D’Souza joined us to discuss his terrific new book, and the movie that Obama and his minions didn’t want anyone to see, “2016,” now available on DVD, Netflix and everywhere. Don’t miss it! And for more in-depth coverage, check out the book Obama’s America.

Then we heard from our friend National Review’s Stanley Kurtz, who has been one of the few journalists to explore Obama’s radical background. His book Radical-in-Chief is a must-read. Now he has a new book, Spreading the Wealth, sounding the alarm about Obama’s plans to redistribute wealth unfairly held be people in the suburbs to his peeps in the inner city. We also talked about his National Review piece regarding what the disgusting Lena Dunham ad that I wrote about here.

A local reporter in Denver asks the One actual questions about actual issues. No, I don’t mean what songs are on his iPod, what super power he would like to have, or what Sasha and Malia have chosen for their Halloween costumes. This guy, Kyle Clark of Denver’s News 9, asked him whether the 4 Americans murdered in Benghazi were denied help, whether one of his campaign contributor’s “green energy” boondoggles was Colorado’s Solyndra, and, given concerns about the “tone” of the campaign, what he meant when he called Mitt Romney a “bulls*****r”. Once Sham WOW (Walks on Water) figured out that he was not in the middle of his usual interview, in which the “reporter” humps his leg for the entire time, he employed the technique he used when he used to hold press conferences. He went into filibuster mode to limit the number of questions he had to pretend to answer with long, predictable recitations of the threadbare slogans that thrill his wet-behind-the-ears swooning audiences, and Chris Matthews. As we heard on the show, the answers to the last two questions for each over two minutes long. One was nearly three minutes long! You can hear the questions, and the whole answers here, in this week’s third hour.

Newt Gingrich busts Lame Stream Media for incessantly repeating Obama talking points about Republican Senate candidates while failing to point out that Barack Obama is the real radical on the issue of abortion since he voted 3 times for infanticide while an Illinois State Senator.

Democrat Colorado governor inadvertently reveals just how obsessed the dems are with the issue of abortion.

On MTV, during an interview with DJ Sway Calloway, Barack Obama reveals that he doesn’t have the slightest clue what the capital gains tax is, and refers to something called “The Defense Against Marriage Act.”

Based on Barack Obama’s latest story on Benghazi, it appears that Leon Panetta is actually the Commander-in-Chief. Or is it Valerie Jarrett? I say it’s time to put her under oath.

Please scroll down for links to all the stories we discussed on the show.

(IMPORTANT NOTE: Every week we post this brief summary of that week’s show, with links to the articles mentioned on the air, and contained in the chat room. Dinesh D’Souza, author of the essential book, Roots of Obama’s Rage. He joined us to talk about that great book in 2011. He’ll join us this Sunday to discuss his new book, Obama’s America: Unmaking the American Dream, and the smash hit documentary “2016.”

Plus, we are also delighted to announce that author/investigative journalist, Stanley Kurtz, who has appeared on the show previously twice, most recently in June to explore Barack Obama’s dishonesty about his membership in a socialist third party, and back on November 7, 2010, to discuss his terrific book, Radical-in-Chief: Barack Obama and the Untold Story of American Socialism.  Now Stanley has a fabulous new book, Spreading the Wealth: How Obama is Robbing the Suburbs to Pay for the Cities, and he’ll be on to talk about it. I also want to talk to him about his piece in National Review today about the disgusting ad the Obama campaign is running to appeal to young women.
