The federal Treasury expects to collect a record $2.712 trillion in taxes on Americans and U.S. business this year, shattering the 2007 high of $2.5 trillion in taxes.
More shocking in the president’s 376-page “Historical Tables,” is the projection that tax receipts will soar during the remainder of the president’s second term, reaching nearly $4 trillion in 2018, four times Uncle Sam’s take in 1989.
That’s odd. The president wants to raise taxes even higher. The ends justify the means, I presume.
Another piece of unfinished business in the decade-long investigation of former Gov. Rod Blagojevich’s administration has been dealt with in federal court in Chicago.
Building contractor Jacob Kiferbaum pleaded guilty Wednesday to attempted extortion in an amended plea deal. It calls for a prison term of about two years when he is sentenced July 17.
Why is this odd you ask?
Kiferbaum pleaded guilty in 2007 according to this report. So five and a half years after he pleads guilty he might get sentenced to two years– in three months. That’s odd. Not quite as odd as Joe Cari’s sentence- from the same report:
In August 2011, Joe [Cari] – a close friend of Joe Biden – was sentenced to three years of…wait for it…wait for it…yes, pro-ba-tion. Oh, the state pension fund was for school teachers.
The lesson? Never steal money unless you have the assent of all your colleagues in Congress, comrade.
My tweet from yesterday on EO’s re trampling on the 2nd amendment
I watch so you don’t have to, so I saw this disturbing news yesterday on the 24/7 insane asylum, MS-NBC. Now, it’s being reported. From Politico:
The focus on executive orders is the result of the White House and other Democrats acknowledging the political difficulty of enacting any new gun legislation, a topic Biden did not address in Monday’s meeting.
“It was all focusing on enforcing existing law, administering things like improving the background database, things like that that do not involve a change in the law but enforcing and making sure that the present law is administered as well as possible,” said Rep. Bobby Scott (D-Va.).
But Biden did indicate that the remains of the Obama campaign apparatus may be activated in the effort.
“He said that this has been a real focus on the policy and that the politics of this issue, that a strategy on the politics of the issue hasn’t been undertaken yet,” Rep. Jackie Speier (D-Calif.) told POLITICO. “He did remind us that the campaign infrastructure is still accessible.”
The executive actions could include giving the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention authority to conduct national research on guns, more aggressive enforcement of existing gun laws and pushing for wider sharing of existing gun databases among federal and state agencies, members of Congress in the meeting said.
Note the phrase “the campaign infrastructure is still accessible,” meaning that they intend to use the 3M (Massage and Mobilize Moron) strategy that worked so well in the 2012 presidential election to gin up hysteria among their low-information voters. This time, however, they will be running against not the lame Romney campaign, but the 2nd Amendment community. The Obama campaign deliberately avoided running on that issue in 2012. Why do you think they didn’t have one of these silly sideshows after the Tucson shooting? They didn’t want to stir up the hornet’s nest that they are going to stir up this time. They keep saying that the NRA has lost its political clout, however, they were crucial in helping Scott Walker win his recall election.
As I predicted on yesterday’s edition of The Teri O’Brien Show, B. Hussein would find some way to get in our faces so that he can try to make political hay out of the mess he and his friends in the Senate have made of our disastrous fiscal condition and the looming “fiscal cliff. There he is, blathering on about a “balanced approach,” and “shared sacrifice.” Gee, I wonder if that applies to Moochelle’s vacation schedule? At least he didn’t show up during the football game last night.
Of course he’s got the requisite “middle class” human props surrounding him, no doubt members of the National Education Association who received a text alert to get down there STAT to provide the right back drop.
Keep in mind, no deal is done to avoid the cliff, but our Sham WOW (Walks on Water) Dear Reader apparently is so arrogant that he doesn’t fear queering the deal (can I still say that?) by publicly pressuring the Republicans with this little dog and pony show. He doesn’t care because he’s all about fixing the blame, not fixing the problem. If no deal is reached, he’s teed up the GOP nicely for blame so that he’s Lame Stream Media pals can knock them out of the park. Sweet! It’s good to be the king.
Let me say it at least one more time before the year ends. What an embarrassment this jug-eared braying jackass is!
Someone wrote a clever “zinger” for Barack Obama, and he got a chance to deliver it during last night’s debate. Remember this sarcastic little monologue from the One, responding to Gov. Romney:
You mentioned the Navy, for example, and that we have fewer ships than we did in 1916. Well, Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets, because the nature of our military’s changed. We have these things called aircraft carriers, where planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines.
As it turns out, our military continues to use horses and bayonets today. From the Daily Caller:
The Daily Caller won a prestigious Edward R. Murrow award this year for a war report about the American soldiers who — riding on horseback — were the first U.S. forces to fight in Afghanistan after the 9/11 terror attacks. (RELATED VIDEO: Secret mission: The Horse Soldiers of 9/11)
And bayonets remain a fixture in Army infantry training and deployment. On August 6 a blogger at the Gizmodo technology website reported that the military was trading in bayonets for a “tomahawk”-like hand-to-hand combat weapon, but it later emerged that the source of that erroneous report was Duffelblog — a military spoof website modeled on The Onion.
No one wants to say who wrote that well-rehearsed line for Barack Obama, but since it’s stupid, irritating and wrong, the smart money is on Joe Biden.
Barack, remember when your old pal/mentor/fellow Jew and America hater Rev. Jeremiah Wright gave that fiery sermon about “American’s chickens coming home to roost?” That was a horrible remark, bashing the United States, by suggesting that we had 9/11 coming, which is what the Rev believes. The old adage “chickens come home to roost,” while inapplicable there, is much more on point when it comes to your administration’s coverup of the Benghazi disaster. As noted here, Candy Crowley gave you a temporary reprieve during last Tuesday night’s debate by jumping in to issue her non-factual “fact check” of your very arrogant statement that you had called the Benghazi disaster an “act of terror” on the next day. (The look on your face as you glared at Mitt Romney and said “proceed” almost makes it seem that you and Candy had set this exchange up in advance.) She never asked why your U.N. ambassador appeared on 5 Sunday shows on 9/16/12 to tell us a risible explanation involving some moronic video that had debuted last June, and was seen by an audience that could fit in a phone booth. Nor did she explain why she herself, two weeks later on her “State of the Union” show on CNN, asked both John McCain and David Axelrod why your administration took so long to characterize the Libya attack as the action of terrorists, as noted here, where you can also hear the audio.
Sadly, Candy won’t be with you during Monday night’s debate, the final one between you and Mitt Romney, although I’m sure she will be cheering you on while watching at home. At that time, unfortunately, you will have some ‘splainin’ to do about the many shifting stories and inconsistencies in your Libya timeline, all of which point to one conclusion; specifically, that you and your apparatchiks are lying.
Last night you went on “The Daily Show,” and in addition to describing the murders of 4 Americans with the chillingly clinical phrase “not optimal,” you said that you were completely honest with the American public about this attack. Here’s the video.
Really? You told the American people everything we knew about this attack in real time as you found out? MMM …here’s one of those inconsistencies. From the AP this morning:
The CIA station chief in Libya reported to Washington within 24 hours of last month’s deadly attack on the U.S. Consulate that there was evidence it was carried out by militants, not a spontaneous mob upset about an American-made video ridiculing Islam’s Prophet Muhammad, U.S. officials have told The Associated Press.
“[R]eported to Washington?” As Joe Biden would no doubt say, that doesn’t mean the One. He can’t be expected to know everything that’s going on in every outpost, even one that has suffered numerous attacks in one of the most dangerous places in the world. Some might say he should spend a little less time on the golf course, hanging with Jay-Z and Beyoncè, and screeching at group’s of college-age Obamabots and more time attending security briefings, but only the most racist, bitter clinging elements out there.
Recall what we heard Bob Woodward say on last Sunday’s show. He describes a document, the original request for more security in Libya, from last March in which the administration expresses a desire “normalize” the security situation, a “bad policy” in a situation that is “inherently unstable.” He said that anyone looking at it would say that we are “screwed up.” Here’s the audio: C.Wallace-B.Woodward-2-Docs
I guess it’s appropriate that we began with Rev. Wright, since it’s the ideas that you learned from him that have led to the policies that resulted in these murders.
The mother of an American diplomat killed during a terrorist raid on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi has hit out at Barack Obama for describing the attack as ‘not optimal’, saying: ‘My son is not very optimal – he is also very dead.’

The Obama administration’s four-week coverup of their responsibility for the murder of four Americans in Libya is falling apart, with even Dennis Kucinich questioning their failed policies, and Lame Stream Media icons like Bob Woodward of Watergate fame questioning their shifting stories about what happened. As much as the LSM would like to help them out, it’s impossible even for them to avoid the inconvenient facts. No one is surprised that a very cadaverous looking David Axelrod had no problem reciting their talking point that “no one wants to get to the bottom of what happened in Benghazi more than the President” (echoed on Sunday by other mouthpieces Robert Gibbs and former Michigan governor Jennifer Granholm) with a straight face in response to a question from Chris Wallace on Fox News Sunday. After all, poised lying is an essential skill for all sleazy political operatives, and he’s one of the best. The difficulty is reconciling that statement with the fact that after four Americans were killed on the anniversary of 9/11 in one of the most dangerous places in the Middle East, the One jetted off to Vegas for a fundraiser. His tap dance around the question made it clear that Obama didn’t meet with his national security team before going to the campaign event. Priorities are priorities, after all. Liberal journalist Michael Hastings appears on MS-NBC, which I watch so you don’t have to, and expresses disgust over seeing the mother of one of the Seals killed in Benghazi tell Anderson Cooper that the White House doesn’t even return her calls.
As the story unravels, the finger pointing begins. Hillary Clinton, herself a participant in the coverup, is attempting to distance herself from it, as if becomes clear that Susan Rice, who four weeks ago appears on five Sunday shows to present a risible, and clearly untrue, account of what happened in Benghazi on 9/11/12, must have been acting on behalf of the Obama campaign. If I were able to ask a question at Tuesday’s Presidential Debate, which will be in a town hall format, it would be the following: “Did Susan Rice meet with anyone in the White House and/or with the Obama campaign before appearing on television on 9/16/12?”
During the live show, some in lively chat room suggested that this Benghazi mess is worse than Watergate, since “no one died in Watergate,” but is that really true? What about the killing fields of Cambodia? That blood is on the democrats’ hands, in my opinion.
Self-described lifelong democrat and former LSM member Buzz Bissinger, author of Friday Night Lights, comes out, and not in the way that liberals like, but rather as a Romney voter, and faces a barrage of abuse from his (former) friends and even his wife. He realizes that liberal media bias is real.
Liberals squeal with delight over Joe Biden’s scripted “now you’re John Kennedy?” remark during last week’s VP debate, but that line perfectly illustrates the box the Obama campaign is in. They lose on substance.
Self-confessed “bed wetting liberal” Franklin Foer from the New Republic admits that the Obama campaign message appeals to “low information” voters who believe misleading slogans, and to him and his pals on the MS-NBC panel, that’s a good thing.
To the delight of militant union thugs, race-obsessed lily white limousine liberals, and earnest, but silly, juveniles trying to masquerade as serious people, Vice President Joe Biden took it to those evil right wingers who are trying to stop Barack Hussein Obama from completing his “remaking” of America. As long as a few people still have full-time private sector jobs, we know his work is not done.
The aforementioned 15-20% who share the One’s ideology were thrilled by all of Joe’s snarky, condescending boffo performance, but based on some polls and anecdotal evidence, for many voters, it laid a huge egg. That fact captures the box that Barack Obama is in, and will face during next week’s debate. As previously noted in this post, what the left wing base has to confront is that the policies they find totally awesome, most of the country considers repellant. That’s why he can’t tell people what he really wants to do.
No exchange from last week’s Vice Presidential debate highlights his problem more than the one on taxes, which featured Joe’s “now you’re Jack Kennedy?” remark. Liberals squealed with delight, and recalled Lloyd Bentson’s put down of Dan Quayle in the 1988 VP debate. After Joe delivered this alleged zinger, Paul Ryan, clearly aware that the Obama campaign, and in this case, I mean Martha Radditz, was salivating at the prospect of accusing him of being disrespectful, just smiled. When Barack Obama faces Mitt Romney next Tuesday, the One won’t be permitted to hurl snide one-liners without having to deal with underlying substance. Mitt will be able to turn to our Sham WOW (Walks On Water) and reply “This isn’t about me or President Kennedy. It’s about the fact that we have the worst recovery since World War II. Millions of Americans can’t find full- time work. It has been done before. We have increased revenue after reducing tax rates, and furthermore, whether it’s been done before or not, is beside the point. In 2008, you admitted that even if lowering tax rates would increase revenue to the federal treasury, you would oppose that policy. So even if if we could bring in more revenue to not only deal with our massive debt and be able to help people in our own country without going hat in hand to the Chinese, you would be against it because of your extremist ideology.” Substance will carry the day, and, like all Leftists, B. Hussein is shooting blanks on that score.
Wracked with angst over the fate of our beloved and horribly misgoverned Republic, the DiploMad returns to do battle on the world wide web, swearing death to political correctness, and pulling no punches.
Video of the Day
Yes, I'm a huge "Mad Men" fan, and if you watch the show, you saw this song featured in the Season 5 premiere. Once again, Matt Weiner proves his brilliance by picking a song that not only is perfect for the time period, having been popular in the early 1960's, but is impossible to get out of your head once you've heard it.
