Hey Obama, You Owe Me $2500: Today On The Teri O’Brien Show 11-3-13

Teri_OBrien_LogoURL

Will the Obamacare debacle, a cynical purely political power grab enacted by using bribes, background deals, broken promises, and outright, pre-meditated lies, be the death knell of liberalism? Wouldn’t it be ironic if the election Barack Hussein Obama, the first genuine radical leftist to occupy the Oval Office, exposed once and for all the folly of big government redistributionist policies with his signature “achievement”? Some commentators are suggesting just that. What say you? Listeners to last week’s show heard a montage, over 3 minutes long, in which our Sham WOW (Walks on Water) Pitchman-in-Chief endlessly repeated one of the signature lies he used to con the gullible into accepting this socialist scheme; specifically, that “if you like your current plan, you can keep it.” Now American people are learning the ugly truth, not only about this lie, but others, told in the service of tricking them. In these days just after Halloween, it’s clear that the (Un)Affordable Care Act is all tricks, and for those other than the beneficiaries of “Barack’s stash,” no treats. We’ll hear another montage today, and ask “where’s my $2500?”

Many of us remain gobsmacked that someone like Barack Obama, a ridiculously unqualified, inexperienced, empty suit suffering from narcissistic personality disorder, and with a lengthy list of radical, America-hating friends and benefactors, could be elected even once. Some blame the lapdog, slobbering Lame Stream Media for hiding the truth from the voters, and no doubt they played a role, but is it possible that an even greater explanation can be found in our woefully deficient education about free market economics? One institution, Hillsdale College, has been working to overcome that problem. We’ll join their project to push back the frontiers of ignorance with the Hillsdale professor who created the series, Prof. Gary Wolfram.

Be ahead of the curve. Tune in today 4-6 pm Central, for the rest of the story.

One Obamacare Tax That May Actually Be Temporary (But Probably Won’t Be)

As explained in this previous post, Obamacare is the end of private health insurance, and, as most of you have long known, that was the original intention. It’s also an endless cornucopia of surprises. The One accomplishes the slaying of this unfair and outmoded institution by eliminating the practice of “medical underwriting,” which means that by law, insurance companies must charge the same premium to everyone. No more denials of coverage for “pre-existing conditions.” How will insurance companies pay those extra costs? The brainiacs who dreamed up Obamacare thought of that. (Don’t they think of everything?) From the Washington Times story, Obamacare fee of $63 per person to begin in 2014:

Your medical plan is facing an unexpected expense, so you probably are, too. It’s a new, $63-per-head fee to cushion the cost of covering people with pre-existing conditions under President Obama’s health care overhaul.

The charge, buried in a recent regulation, (emphasis mine-one of those of the several hundred references to “as the Secretary shall determine”) works out to tens of millions of dollars for the largest companies, employers say. Most of that is likely to be passed on to workers.

Employee benefits lawyer Chantel Sheaks calls it a “sleeper issue” with significant financial consequences, particularly for large employers.

“Especially at a time when we are facing economic uncertainty, [companies will] be hit with a multimillion-dollar assessment without getting anything back for it,” said Mr. Sheaks, a principal at Buck Consultants, a Xerox subsidiary.

Based on figures provided in the regulation, employer and individual health plans covering an estimated 190 million Americans could owe the per-person fee.

Most of whom, of course, will not benefit from these payments. But then it’s all about “fairness,” no? Someone has to pay for those poor schmucks with the pre-existing conditions. It may as well be you, Bitter Clinger. The makers v. the takers, remember?

Now let’s consider two prospective customers under this “take all comers” Obamacare health “insurance” system:

Customer A: an obese, insulin-insensitive 63 year-old lifetime (since age 14) cigarette smoker, who is also a heavy drinker and occasional pot smoker, whose diet consists of a daily breakfast of Cheetos and Jack Daniels, supplemented by Hershey bars and Mountain Dew throughout the day, and who has shortness of breath, knee and back pain and frequent chest pains. He hasn’t had his teeth cleaned since Jimmy Carter was president, and the only exercise he gets is pushing his shopping cart around and muttering under his breath.

Customer B: a 27 year-old marathon runner who eats no red meat, not only runs 75 miles a week, but also attends a weekly yoga class, and lifts weights twice a week, and has an enviable body fat percentage. He’s what insurance companies call a “young invincible,” which means that he is not inclined to purchase insurance because he thinks he’s going to live forever. He is a non-smoker, and a moderate, social drinker. His only health problem was a mild cold 18 months ago. He sees his doctor and dentist every year for check ups. After all, he does all the scheduled maintenance on his car. Why not his body?

Now, you’re the insurer. You must charge the same premium to A and B. Do you charge both customers the rate required to pay the medical bills and make a slight profit when you take on A, or the rate for B? The answer obvious.

Now, you are B’s employer. (Right, A has no employer. How did you guess?) Faced with an increase of several hundred percent for the cost of your share of the health insurance that you have proudly provided your employees for years, do you pay that now ridiculously high cost or do you opt to pay the Obamacare fine, which is substantially less? Once again, the answer is obvious.

So, as private employers drop their coverage because of skyrocketing premiums, you and your family end up dumped on the government-run system, the good news is that you won’t have to worry about that $63 fee. The bad news is that you, your kids, and your mama, along with Customer A, are consigned to the state-run system. Good luck finding a doctor.

On second thought, as Ronald Reagan once accurately noted, the only thing resembling eternal life is a federal program, and once this tax is enshrined in law, do you really think that these parasites will give up that $63 a head, even after they’ve destroyed our health care system and you are on the crappy government-run system?

Me either.

Good News Day for Pedophiles: Push for “Morning After Pills” for 12 year olds

From the Washington Times:

Pro-choice activists said Tuesday they are preparing another push to lobby the Obama administration to loosen restrictions on “emergency contraception” for women of any reproductive age.

Some 40 organizations are planning to make their case to Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius this week, Kirsten Moore, president and chief executive of the Reproductive Health Technologies Project, said in a media briefing.

“This coalition feels the time is now to read the science and the evidence supporting nonprescription access to emergency contraception,” Ms. Moore said at the briefing organized by RH Reality Check, a site that bills itself as “committed to advancing sexual and reproductive health and rights.”

These products “are safe enough and appropriate enough to be on the shelf — right between the condoms and the pregnancy-test kits,” she said.

Thanks to the courageous, undercover work of Lila Rose and Live Action, we know that one of Barack Obama’s favorite organizations, Planned Parenthood, enthusiastically enables adult men who want to sexually-exploit underage girls. This rule change would give these perverts another avenue to use and degrade these children.

Of course it must be a good idea. The U.N. is all for it.

My unfortunate encounter with the officious intermeddling know it all know nothing at a big box retailer on Black Friday. I wanted to say “Dude, you can’t carry my jock when it comes to computers, so please put a sock in it,” which is probably why I remembered Woody Allen’s longing for a sock full of horse manure while in a movie line listening to some pontificating, insufferable gasbag.

Speaking of insufferable gasbags, Barack Obama’s lifelong dream of federal government takeover of health care, thereby giving the power of life and death over every American may not be a done deal after all. The genius of the Founders strikes again. Sec. of Health and Human Services Kathleen Sebelius generously extends the deadline for states to set up health insurance exchanges, which may not really be as generous as it looks, since even though the deadline for setting them up was supposed to be 11/16/12, but the regulations telling the states what constitutes a plan with “essential health benefits” weren’t released until 11/20/12. Gee, Obama and his band of merry Marxists rammed this scheme through Congress over two years ago. Why would they wait so long to issue regulations?

Unintentionally hilarious story from the Stanford University paper in which professor proves with a poll done in conjunction with the AP that if Americans really knew what was in Obamacare, approval of it would go from 32% to 70%. Unfortunately that’s only if what’s really in it is misrepresented.

What does Obamacare actually do, you ask? You’re not alone, says Stanford pollster.

MS-NBC Screamer Chris Matthews waxes about freedom in a moronic promo filmed at Mt. Rushmore, giving me an opportunity to straighten out another confused liberal, who thinks that the administration of the death penalty and the decisions that will be made by the Obamacare rationing board, the IPAB, are morally equivalent. Thanksgiving was always my favorite holiday, which is why i HATE the media obsession with showing people acting like crazed maniacs on Black Friday (and now even on Thanksgiving Day) over great deals on smartphones and flat screen TVs. Is this really necessary in life? Meanwhile, a Maryland woman stabs her half brother with a serving fork on Thanksgiving. The story didn’t say what the fight was about. Did he take the last piece of pumpkin pie?

Why Obamacare is Not a Done Deal: Today on the Teri O’Brien Show

Secretary of State Kathleen Sebelius has given the states a reprieve from Obamacare’s mandate that they set up the health insurance exchanges necessary to implement the law. Or has she extended the deadline, hoping that they won’t realize that they are now in the position to torpedo Barack Obama’s entire redistributionist, job-destroying, health-care rationing, death-panel mandating scheme? No wonder people like MS-NBC’s Chris Matthews hate the Tenth amendment.

Some people appear hell bent on turning Thanksgiving, which has traditionally been a wonderful time to reflect on our blessings and bask in an attitude of gratitude, into an opportunity to re-enact the Jerry Springer show by engaging in fist fights over smartphones and stampedes to purchase flat screen TVs. Others view the day as an opportunity to bus in rent-a-mobs to big box stores to engage in annoying pro-union agitation, which is largely ignored by the employees of those stores. I’m no fan of the SEIU or National Education Association, as you know, but do those who say that it’s wrong to make retail employees work on Thanksgiving have a point?

Thanksgiving also gives us the opportunity to reconnect with family and friends, which unfortunately doesn’t always turn into the Normal Rockwell painting experience that we imagine. What are your most interesting Thanksgiving memories? Did anyone ever storm out on Thanksgiving Day? Were the police involved?

Tune in today for the rest of the story.

“Contraceptive” Controversy Should Remind You of Death Panels: Show Notes, 2-12-12

Where is Kathleen "as the Secretary shall determine" Sebelius? Is it time to put her picture on a milk carton?

“Contraception” controversy has nothing to do with contraception. It’s about coercion. The so-called “compromise” is a ridiculous accounting gimmick that fools no one. At best, it allows “progressive” Catholics to pretend that there isn’t an inherent conflict between what the Regime demands and their faith requires. It’s an “accommodation,” as in the benevolent government elects to let you do something, sort of like when your dad lets you stay out past your curfew.

The bishops aren’t buying it. I hope they realize now what a mistake it was to make a deal with the devil by pushing Obamacare in the first place.

Remember those death panels?

With Obama’s budget coming out tomorrow, it’s a good time to revisit his plan to save big bucks with the IPAB, the Independent Payment Advisory Board. Can you say “death panel?” Must read: piece from last April by one-time Teri O’Brien Show guest, Stanley Kurtz.

Now this makes sense.

Gee, wasn’t it amazing coincidence right before the New Hampshire Debate, when dem apparatchik/ “objective journalist” George Stephanopoulos grilled Mitt Romney about contraception, which at the time didn’t seem like America’s number one issue? We played one of the soundbites during this show. (On the January 8 edition of the Teri O’Brien Show, we wondered why Georgie was like a dog with a bone with issue, and played the whole exchange.)

Critiquelator weighs in on this kerfuffle.

Does this woman really need to worry about contraception? Seriously?

Two Questions: (1) The Regime sent new WH chief of staff Jacob Lew out to all the Sunday Shows to defend Obamacare. Where is Kathleen “as the Secretary shall determine” Sebelius? Should we put her face on a milk carton? (2) As I asked back when I keynoted an Illinois Right to LIfe Dinner, why are women like Barbara Mikulski obsessed with contraception and abortion? What are they afraid of, an unfortunate accident with a loaded turkey baster?
