UPDATED: So sayeth the One:
“I am sorry that they are finding themselves in this situation based on assurances they got from me,” the president told NBC in an interview recorded at the White House on Thursday afternoon.
Barack Obama’s internal poll numbers must be really grim because about 2 hours ago he tried, in an EXTREMELY uncomfortable, cringe-inducing way, to almost accept responsibility for his Obamacare debacle. He gave an exclusive interview to the modern American equivalent of house organ Pravda, NBC News. Here’s Chuck Todd:
I’ll start with health care. It’s probably the most quoted thing or requoted thing you have said in your presidency, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep it.” You said it a lot during the run up. At this point, though, it’s obviously something– a promise that has not been able to be kept. Just today, the Denver Post — 250,000 people in Colorado are seeing health insurance policies cancelled. Some of those people liked those policies. And they can’t keep them. What happened? PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well– first of all, I meant what I said. And we worked hard to try to make sure that we implemented it properly. But obviously, we didn’t do enough– a good enough job– and I regret that.
Seriously? It wasn’t implemented properly? Uh, no. It was implemented EXACTLY as it was designed. In the summer of 2010, that Barack Obama’s Department of Health and Human Services wrote regulations that would necessitate that millions lose their policies. The One crisscrossed the country for over two years reciting the lie that he now claims to “regret.” Now, wait, he doesn’t regret lying he regrets not doing ” a good enough job” on implementation. Let me translate. “I regret that we couldn’t keep this con going because too many people found out about what a disaster my health care scheme is. Damn you internet and talk radio!” Notice that he isn’t really apologizing for, or promising to do anything about, the cancellation notices. Of course not! Those cancellation plans are part of the design. Over the weekend we learned, that the policy advisers in the Obama White House suggested that he qualify his assertion that “you can keep your plan” because for millions that probably wouldn’t be true. They were over ruled by the political operatives. We discussed this inconvenient fact on last Sunday’s show. This ridiculous “apology” doesn’t make anything better for Obama, and more important, for Senate democrats running for re-election next year. Barack Obama, and his health care scheme, are toxic. That’s why when B. Hussein travels to Louisiana tomorrow, Sen. Mary Landrieu will not appear with him. Scheduling conflict, donchaknow.
CHUCK TODD: Do you feel like you owe these folks an apology for misleading them? PRESIDENT OBAMA: You know– CHUCK TODD: Even if you didn’t intentionally do it, but at this point, they feel misled. And you’ve seen the anger that’s out there. PRESIDENT OBAMA: You know– I regret very much that– what we intended to do, which is to make sure that everybody is moving into better plans because they want ‘em, as opposed to because they’re forced into it. That, you know, we weren’t as clear as we needed to be– in terms of the changes that were taking place. And I want to do everything we can to make sure that people are finding themselves in a good position– a better position than they were before this law happened.
“Weren’t as clear as we needed to be?” No, Barry, you were perfectly clear, crystal clear, and you lied in the interest of political expediency. More lies, and lies about lying, trying to salvage his pathetic legacy. That’s all this “apology” is, and it’s a disgrace like nearly everything else that comes out of this administration.
Think of it this way: I apologize for the fact that you are too stupid to appreciate that I was trying to make sure that you got something “better” than what you, in your ignorance, chose for yourself. I apologize for the fact that you feel bad, even though you shouldn’t.
Hey Obama worshippers: is this really what you voted for?
All the rest of you: will you ever believe on word this man utters ever again?
