The Obama “Recovery?” Lowest Labor Participation Rate Since Jimmy Carter

If you didn’t understand this critical fact before, understand it now because Barack Obama and his PR flacks do understand it very very well. Their low-information supporters are so completely ignorant about serious public policy matters that they are incapable of understanding the destruction he is inflicting on this country. How else to explain the ridiculous spectacle of a man who once derided his predecessor as “unpatriotic” for adding $4 trillion to the national debt over 8 years, and who then preceded to add $5 trillion in less than 39 months, a man who pledged to “cut the deficit in half by the end of [his] first term in office,” and then added $1 trillion to it every year in office, issuing proclamations about financial responsibility? Anyone with the slightest grasp of the facts could have only one of three reactions to that charade; specifically, either open-mouthed shock, uncontrollable laughter, or both.

Today’s job report makes painfully clear that Mr. Financial Responsibility’s constant repetition of the fairy tale that our economy is “recovering” is another cruel joke, sort of like those “shovel ready jobs that weren’t so shovel ready. From the Liberal Death Star (aka The New York Times):

The United States economy posted disappointing job growth in March.

The nation’s employers increased their payrolls by 88,000 last month, compared with 268,000 in February, according to a Labor Department report released Friday. It was the slowest pace of growth since last June and less than half of what economists expected.

It was also the third consecutive spring in which employers tapered off their hiring, even after adjusting the numbers for seasonal changes. Economists have started calling the phenomenon the “spring swoon.”

The unemployment rate, which comes from a different survey, ticked down to 7.6 percent from 7.7 percent, but primarily because more people dropped out of the labor force, not because more people got jobs.

The labor force participation rate has not been this low — 63.3 percent — since 1979, a time when women were less likely to be working. (emphasis mine) Baby Boomer retirements may account for part of the slide, but discouragement about job prospects in a mediocre economy still seems to be playing a large role, economists say.

In other words, this economy stinks, and people are simply checking out.

Then there’s this little nugget. Remember back in the day when Ronald Reagan pulled us out of the Jimmy Carter recession in two years? The Lame Stream Media whined about “hamburger flipper jobs.” I can’t wait to hear their reaction to this very interesting part of the story.

Relatively low-wage sectors like food services and retail have accounted for a large share of the job growth in the last few years; a report in August from the National Employment Law Project, a liberal advocacy group, found that a majority of jobs lost during the downturn were in the middle range of wages, and a majority of those added during the recovery have been low paying.

The story goes on to describe the plight of a 56 year-old Chicago woman named Amie Crawford, who after a 30-year career as an interior designer, and a 4 month job search, now works as a part-time cashier at “a quick-service health food cafe called the Protein Bar.” And she’s considered “one of the lucky ones” in the Obama “recovery.”

Meanwhile, as he and his merry band of Marxists work 24/7 to increase the size of the federal government, and make as many people dependent on it as possible, regardless of the suffering that they are inflicting in the process, the White House celebrity revolving door turns incessantly, the taxpayer-funded trips to campaign cash raising soireès with the fabulously wealthy and the perpetual vacations for the Obama family continue.

I have always said that this country gets what it deserves, but it’s heartbreaking to see so much collateral damage, and it’s especially cruel that many of those suffering the most are those who fell for the “hope and change” con in the first place.

Happy Birthday, President Reagan

Remember when we had a real president, instead of a thin-skinned, narcissistic, jug-eared TelePrompTer-dependent, affirmative-action assisted, Constitutionally-ineligible, lying, law-breaking empty suit with a history of drug use squatting in the Oval Office?

Raunchy Super Bowl Ads Disappoint. Is Obama to Blame?

As I mentioned on yesterday’s show, this year’s crop of Super Bowl ads were a major disappointment. The Big Game commercials showed that originality and creativity have taken a back seat to explicit, raunchy exploitative publicity seeking efforts, such as that revolting Go Daddy ad, featuring model Bar Rafaeli playing tongue hockey with a fat guy who appears to be wearing a fright wig, that can be described by only one word: gross. I await the howls of protest from the fat acceptance groups like NAAFA over that Go Daddy ad.

What does Barack Obama have to do with that, you might be asking? Stay tuned, and I’ll make my point about that, and as always, I do have one.

Back to those ads. I don’t want to dwell on the crummy ones. There were some good ones; specifically, these three, listed in ascending order.

Third Place: Go Daddy’s “Your Big Idea”

Demonstrating that you don’t have to be salacious and vulgar to make an effective spot, this ad is funny and makes the point about the value of registering a domain and setting up a web presence better than all the spit-swapping ads in the world.

Second Place: Budweiser-”Brotherhood”

A man reunited with the horse he raised and sent off to Clydesdale glory. Very touching.

First Place: Dodge Ram-”So God Made a Farmer”
A big surprise. Extremely effective because it made an emotional connection with a beautiful combination of very appealing visuals and a compelling voiceover by the late great Paul Harvey.
Honorable mentions:

Jeep’s “Coming Home” ad, featuring a voice over by the Oprah, Kia “Space Babies.”

What ads did you like or hate? Please post your thoughts in the comments.

Now, as promised, what does any of this have to do with Barack Obama? Answering questions like this one is why my work is never done. If the last four years have taught us anything, it’s that the Age of Obama is a time in which American are being encouraged to accept mediocrity as the “new normal.” In the last quarter our economy contracted and last month our unemployment rate increased, yet to see media reports, we would believe that everything is so much better, that our economic “recovery” is humming along. We are being asked to settle, something that Americans have never done. How very sad that fact is to contemplate, especially in the week that we celebrate the anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birth.

During Inauguration Week, Obama’s supporters were unabashed in proclaiming that their guy is determined to reverse Reagan’s legacy. He’s well on the way, from a country that seeks and rewards excellence to one in which we are reduced to being grateful for the crumbs from big government’s table, content knowing that we have a cool celebutard king in office, who is always fighting for the “middle class,” even when he and his repellant wife are spending millions of tax payer dollars jet setting all over the planet from one luxury vacation, date night or other opportunity to take advantage of their well-deserved reparations.

Once standards have been lowered so abysmally that we can be conned by a cult of the personality manufactured by a slobbering media from racial politics and meaningless buzz words like “hope” and “change,” which apparently trump genuine qualifications for office, is it any wonder that we see mediocrity everywhere we look?

Inexplicably, B. Hussein Obama’s campaign operation releases a ridiculous photo, purporting to show the Dear Reader skeet shooting at Camp David. Either he was shooting at a lead pigeon, which was unable to slip the surly bounds of Earth, hence necessitating that Barry fire the gun while it was held parallel to the ground, or he was aiming at John Boehner. He should have borrowed John Kerry’s “Huntin’ License” getup for this charade. The only possible explanation is that they are hoping to appeal to their low info and/or stupid supporters, who are blissfully unaware of Barack Obama’s decades long, well-demonstrated hostility to the 2nd Amendment.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press,” fill-in host F. Chuck Todd cites a Super Bowl ad from Mayor Bloomberg’s gun grab group and lies about the NRA changing its position on “universal” background checks, when even the ad didn’t say that. Pudgy former Obama press secretary, Robert Gibbs, agrees.

On “Fox News Sunday” the NRA’s Wayne La Pierre explains the reason that the instant background check system that the NRA supported in 1999 has been a failure.

Joe Biden, Who Said We Had a Moral Obligation to Impose Gun Control to Solve Problem of Gun Violence, Says Gun Control Won’t Solve Problem of Gun Violence. This is the same guy who told us that the Obama administration doesn’t have time to enforce the current law about firearm purchase background checks. And of course, since they don’t have the time to administer background checks, what are they demanding? More laws about background checks.

Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America Reacts to Obama’s Skeet Shooting Scam-Today on The Teri O’Brien Show

With the Middle East in flames, al Qaeda on the march, and many unanswered questions about the murder of 4 Americans in Benghazi, liberal icon/practiced liar Hillary Rodham Clinton not only managed to avoid the inevitable vicious attacks from the vast right-wing conspiracy as she left office as Secretary of State. Her exit path was strewn with flowers, as even Republican senators slobbered all over her and praised her to the skies for the terrific job she has done. Apparently frequent flyer miles count for a lot, since many of us are having a hard time identifying any other achievement for the former New York senator and serial adultery victim.

Meanwhile, the Obama administration continues to entertain and disturb us with unintentional comedy, not only the pathetic performance of Sec. Of Defense nominee Chuck Hagel. They are also attempting to do anything to distract us from our limping economy. Sayeth the Dear Reader: Pay no attention to those anemic job numbers, Subjects. Behold what I am doing for the children with gun control and amnesty for illegals!

After the Sandy Hook murders in Newtown, CT, sensing a good opportunity to exploit a crisis, Barack Obama and his left-wing, 2nd Amendment hating posse pulled their precious gun control plans out of a drawer, dusted them off, and put Joe Biden on the case. Joe promptly committed another gaffe, as in told the truth about the futility of their gun grabbing plans. I guess he figured if “what difference does it make?” worked out so well for his likely 2016 rival, Hillary Clinton, why not steal that line? After all, he has been known to, shall we say, borrow from other people’s speeches.

We’ll ask our special guest Larry Pratt of Gun Owners of America his reaction to Biden’s admission, as well as yesterday’s release of a ridiculous photo of Barack Obama skeet shooting at Camp David. What an amazing coincidence!  Apparently years of successfully running a con on millions of Americans has inspired a high degree of overconfidence in this bunch. Note to Obama and his PR flacks: one phony photo op depicting the One awkwardly handling a shotgun does not assuage our concerns about his hostility to the 2nd amendment. It is insufficient to overcome decades of statements, actions and votes the prove beyond a reasonable doubt that Barack Obama does not believe in the individual right to keep and bear arms. This is a man who, as our guest John Lott reminded us, back in the 1990’s, actively participated in Chicago’s attempt to sue gun manufacturers out of existence, and told his colleague Prof. Lott that he didn’t believe people should be able to own guns. This is also the man who appointed Eric Holder, who said that we need to “brainwash” people to be hostile to private gun ownership. As a candidate for the Illinois State Senate in 1996, Obama promised to support a ban on “the manufacture, sale & possession of handguns. Even if he does enjoy skeet shooting, that hobby, like hunting, has nothing to do with why the Founders included the 2nd amendment in our precious Constitution.

And, today is Super Bowl Sunday, and Wednesday is the anniversary of Ronald Reagan’s birth. We’ll celebrate both by getting your take on this year’s crop of Super Bowl commercials, some of which are definitely NOT G-rated, and by getting the inside story about attempts to raze Ronald Reagan’s boyhood apartment in Chicago. Is it really going to be torn down and replaced by a parking lot for Barack Obama’s presidential library? We’ll talk to the woman spearheading attempts to save it, Mary Claire Kendall.

Tune in today for the rest of the story.

Jurassic Media enjoys the Sandy Hill tragedy WAY too much, probably because, as noted here, it is tailor-made to advance several liberal agenda items; specifically, gun control, public school supremacy and more big government programs. While the facts of this case are not known, we do know that our society started down the toilet the day we decided that the biggest sin we could commit was being “judgmental.” Remember that movie “One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest” from the 1970′s? That film represents the beginning of the mentality that has brought us where we are today; that is, there is no insanity or pathological behavior, just alternative lifestyles. It was actually desirable when socially undesirable behavior, like illegitimacy, was stigmatized.

What role does the coarsening of the culture, including the “music” by Obama’s pals Common and Jay-Z, play in incidents like Sandy Hook?

New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg makes a fool of himself AGAIN, this time by suggesting on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” that horrible mass murders like the one that happened last Friday in Newton, CT occur “only in America.” Not exactly, Your Honor. Can you say “Dunblane, Scotland” or  ”Utoya, Norway?” Fool.

How convenient-Hillary Clinton falls on her head, and even though no hospitalization was required, somehow she can’t testify about Benghazi.

Sorry Leftists: There is No Mandate. Show Notes: The Teri O’Brien Show, 11/11/12

Thanks again to all our veterans and members of the military, past and present, and their families for their courage, sacrifice and patriotism.

Despite the chorus of leftist Obama kneepad clutchers, like the occupants of the 24/7 nuthouse at MS-NBC, and commie rag The Nation, gleefully proclaiming that last week’s election provided Barack Obama with a “mandate” for his “progressive” agenda, the truth is that a switch of a few hundred thousand votes would have produced a different result. Please don’t get me wrong. I am not trying to sugar coat what was a shellacking, nor am I trying to deny the masterful success of the Obama campaign. As we heard on the show, they understood the game and they played it fabulously. They got the opponent they wanted, and as he was bloodied during a primary, they built their “firewall” in Florida, Virginia and Ohio, then spent the spring and summer using character assassination to disqualify Mitt Romney as a cruel, greedy, plutocrat, a cross between Marie Antoinette and Gordon Geckko, only with less empathy for the “middle class.” Meanwhile, the Romney campaign not only failed to combat this caricature, but also failed to articulate a clear, compelling vision for the future of the country. That’s understandable because, as noted here, Mitt Romney is not and never has been a conservative. He could try to speak like Ronald Reagan, but unlike Reagan, he was speaking conservatism as a second language. Reagan wouldn’t have allowed Obama to get away with mouthing platitudes about the “middle class” without explaining that in Barack Obama’s vision of America as Cook County writ large, there is no middle class.  He would have gone on offense on Benghazi and on the horrific impact that Obamacare will have on our health care system. The combination of the unprecedented negativity and identity politics on steroids approach of the Obama campaign, coupled with the Romney campaign’s failure to provide an exciting alternative to voters and its inadequate “get out the vote” effort, led to a disaster for this country and for the world. That’s why he lost, NOT because of “demographics” as the geniuses on television, broadcasting from their East Coast bubble are trying to tell you. The ignorant, and agenda-driven bleating about “demographics” is leading to the inevitable demands for amnesty for 11 million illegals.

In an amazing coincidence, David Petraeus resigns after the election and only a few days before Congressional hearings on the 9/11 attack in Benghazi. Does he have a Martha Stewart problem? Is there anyone, other than the low-information children who voted for Obama, who probably think Benghazi is one of the designers that Moochelle is considering  to design her gown for the inauguration, who believes that the White House found out about this affair at 5 pm on Election Day? Seriously? Why is this affair an issue? Wasn’t it just a week or so ago that we were being told that Bill Clinton, the only elected president in the history of the U.S. ever to be impeached, and impeached for lying under oath, was the go-to guy for truth? When Bill Clinton was diddling an intern in the Oval Office, the democrats, and by that I mean elected officials and the LSM, told us that it had nothing to do with his job performance.
