Our Continuing Series: How Stupid is Obama? “Magazine Clips?” Seriously?

UPDATE: Barry, 12 gauge or 20 gauge? That would be a good question for Jay Carney at his daily press briefing.

As he executes his brilliant plan to disarm the bitter clingers, who clearly still don’t appreciate how lucky they are to be his subjects, our Dear Reader sought to re-assure those who might fear that he has a hidden agenda. From the Telegraph:

“Up at Camp David, we do skeet shooting all the time,” he said. “And I have a profound respect for the traditions of hunting that trace back in this country for generations.

“And I think those who dismiss that out of hand make a big mistake”.

The traditions of hunting? Is this former “constitutional law professor” (actually an adjunct lecturer) really stupid enough to think that the Founders thought that hunting was worthy of inclusion in the Bill of Rights? News bulletin, Professor. They weren’t and they didn’t.

If he goes shooting all the time, why isn’t there a photo? Not that he’d lie about that. I don’t mean to imply that.

After all, a man who can talk about “magazine clips” is clearly very knowledgeable when it comes to firearms and shooting.

While both Democrats and Republicans slobber all over Hillary Clinton when she finally appears before Congress to try to explain what happened when 4 Americans were murdered in Benghazi on 9/11/12, an objective review demonstrates that the Obama foreign policy of “leading from behind” is a disaster. Ted Koppel, Bob Woodward and John McCain agree on that. Unless we’re counting frequent flyer miles, isn’t Hillary a huge failure? Except for that “beautiful voice” mentioned by Chris Matthews, of course. What about the obvious irony of Hillary Clinton, a woman who cut her political teeth by pursuing a sitting president for lying, now saying that it doesn’t matter if a president lies?

To Arms!

We all knew it would come to this.

In January, Senator Feinstein will introduce a bill to stop the sale, transfer, importation and manufacturing of military-style assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition feeding devises.

I don’t even own a weapon but this is a grave concern. We have an administration that ‘walked’ guns to the Mexican drug cartels, armed the Libyan and Tunisian rebels and now, it seems tried to walk guns to the Syrians rebels. What is it about the Muslim Brotherhood and the Mexican drug lords that this administration would rather see them armed than its own loyal citizens?

Following is a summary of the 2013 legislation:

  • Bans the sale, transfer, importation, or manufacturing of:
    • 120 specifically-named firearms
    • Certain other semiautomatic rifles, handguns, shotguns that can accept a detachable magazine and have one military characteristic
    • Semiautomatic rifles and handguns with a fixed magazine that can accept more than 10 rounds
  • Strengthens the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban and various state bans by:
    • Moving from a 2-characteristic test to a 1-characteristic test
    • Eliminating the easy-to-remove bayonet mounts and flash suppressors from the characteristics test
    • Banning firearms with “thumbhole stocks” and “bullet buttons” to address attempts to “work around” prior bans
  • Bans large-capacity ammunition feeding devices capable of accepting more than 10 rounds.
  • Protects legitimate hunters and the rights of existing gun owners by:
    • Grandfathering weapons legally possessed on the date of enactment
    • Exempting over 900 specifically-named weapons used for hunting or sporting purposes and
    • Exempting antique, manually-operated, and permanently disabled weapons
  • Requires that grandfathered weapons be registered under the National Firearms Act, to include:
    • Background check of owner and any transferee;
    • Type and serial number of the firearm;
    • Positive identification, including photograph and fingerprint;
    • Certification from local law enforcement of identity and that possession would not violate State or local law; and
    • Dedicated funding for ATF to implement registration

We have been down this road before. This cannot end well.
