Happy Thanksgiving!

Am I the only one who makes ambitious plans about all the things I’m going to accomplish only to run smack up against the limits of my time and energy? Yesterday I was all psyched to get the jump on cooking Thanksgiving dinner by preparing the stuffing so I’d have that done before dealing with the turkey today, but when the time arrive to start all the chopping, slicing and sautéing, even the thought of cooking made me feel light-headed. So, instead, I prepared a new page at http://www.teriobrien.com to share some ideas with you about ways to listen to the show on demand, for those times when you can’t listen live. It’s here, “Three Ways to Avoid Radio Suckitude.” We’re in the process of seeking more ways for you to listen to the show streaming live when you are on the go, so stay tuned.

The good news is that I did get that stuffing done, the turkey is roasting, and I am able to relax for a few minutes and to happily count my blessings. When I do, I consider your encouragement, support, great ideas, friendship and prayers at the top of the list. We wouldn’t be able to continue the Teri O’Brien show without you, nor would we have seen the listening audience grow over 400% since the show began in 2009.

I hope that you and yours have a wonderful Thanksgiving Day, basking in the glow of friends and family, and experiencing the joy that real gratitude can bring.

Please check out today’s “Post of the Day,”  President George Washington’s Thanksgiving Proclamation issued in 1789. It’s in the sidebar on the right side.

May God bless you and yours, and may He continue to bless the United States of America.

A Thanksgiving Exercise

In my yoga class earlier this week, we did an exercise which is particularly appropriate for Thanksgiving week, but which is valuable all year long. Sit in a comfortable position, and close your eyes. Begin to think about all the wonderful things in your life, all the things you might take for granted. Visualize each of them and allow yourself to bask in the good feelings they inspire.

When we reflect on about those things, we realize how grateful we should be.

My own personal list starts with my precious ones, the Husband and the dogs. Then my wonderful friends, my great neighborhood, warm home, a strong, healthy body that lets me do what I want to do every day, and the opportunity to express myself here in my blog and on my show. I also appreciate being born in this amazing country, and I am thankful for the brave men and women who have served, and who serve today, to keep us free. God bless you and your families for your sacrifice, patriotism and commitment.

I hope that you and yours had a wonderful Thanksgiving. When I count my blessings, you readers and listeners are at the top of the list.  I appreciate the encouragement and support I have received from you more than I can say.
