Bernie Sanders, who refuses to comment on the collapse of socialist Venezuela, hangs out with Danny Glover, YUGE fan of man who caused it, Hugo Chavez.
Avowed “democratic socialist,” Sen. Bernie Sanders has refused to answer question about the horrific conditions in the collapsing socialist country, Venezuela. Last fall, he tried to distance himself from the deepening crisis in that country. I think we all understand why. The country is a terrifying example of what socialism is, and the misery, poverty, hopelessness and death it brings wherever it goes. Yet, last night, he was yucking it up with Danny Glover, who practically worships Hugo Chavez, the guy who brought socialism to Venezuela.
For a little taste of that misery, poverty and death, check out this May 15, 2016 sickening story from the Liberal Death Star aka the New York Times “Dying Infants and No Medicine: Inside Venezuela’s Failing Hospitals.” :
By morning, three newborns were already dead.
The day had begun with the usual hazards: chronic shortages of antibiotics, intravenous solutions, even food. Then a blackout swept over the city, shutting down the respirators in the maternity ward.
Doctors kept ailing infants alive by pumping air into their lungs by hand for hours. By nightfall, four more newborns had died.
“The death of a baby is our daily bread,” said Dr. Osleidy Camejo, a surgeon in the nation’s capital, Caracas, referring to the toll from Venezuela’s collapsing hospitals.
The economic crisis in this country has exploded into a public health emergency, claiming the lives of untold numbers of Venezuelans. It is just part of a larger unraveling here that has become so severe it has prompted President Nicolás Maduro to impose a state of emergency and has raised fears of a government collapse.
Hospital wards have become crucibles where the forces tearing Venezuela apart have converged. Gloves and soap have vanished from some hospitals. Often, cancer medicines are found only on the black market. There is so little electricity that the government works only two days a week to save what energy is left.
At the University of the Andes Hospital in the mountain city of Mérida, there was not enough water to wash blood from the operating table. Doctors preparing for surgery cleaned their hands with bottles of seltzer water.
“It is like something from the 19th century,” said Dr. Christian Pino, a surgeon at the hospital.
The horrifying conditions described in this New York Times story are extremely disturbing. You have been warned. And every thinking person has been warned: this is socialism. In Venezuela, they called it “chavismo,” after the late Hugo Chavez. He came up with this “21st century socialism” scheme, now being carried on by Chavez’ hapless successor, former bus driver Nicolas Maduro.
Now, back to despicable Hollywood phony Danny Glover. When Hugo Chavez died in 2013, Danny referred to him as a “great man,” his “brother,” and compared him to Nelson Mandela. More about “lethally stupid” Danny here, and here (about Hugo’s giving Danny big bucks to make a movie about Haitian slavery or something.) He’s not alone, as noted in this Hollywood Reporter story about Danny’s 2014 visit to Venezuela, which mentions other useful idiot/usual suspects Chavistas, Sean Penn and Oliver Stone.
At that 2014 appearance, Danny Glover said
“I’m so proud to be here with you,” said Glover to a big crowd who attended a public rally in which President Maduro delivered new homes to nearly 200 families as part of a public housing initiative.
“As we commemorate and celebrate a true man of the people, Hugo Chavez, his memory lives with us through the work you do as citizens of this great nation, as you continue to realize his vision of a participatory democracy, one involving all citizens,” said Glover
“It is a task that is very difficult, with many challenges, but he knows that you will continue the fight he gave his last breath for — a free, democratic, and self-determined Venezuela; a Venezuela that won’t allow its sovereignty to be undermined; a Venezuela that will also provide leadership in the region and the world; a Venezuela that will reimagine its relationships from nation to nation; a Venezuela that will stand up for piece and justice,” said Glover, who is one of the biggest supporters of the Venezuelan government in Hollywood, together with actor Sean Penn and director Oliver Stone.
Peace and justice? These leftists spout the same meaningless crap no matter where they go. They really need some new writers.
A couple of questions occur to me:
Do you agree that there are few things more contemptible than a person, like a Danny Glover or a Sean Penn, living a life of wealth and privilege in the U.S., praising and enabling an ideology that poverty, misery and death in places like Venezuela and Cuba?
Do you think someone should force the Left in this country, including Sen. Bernie Sanders, to defend their support for socialism with the collapse of Venezuela as an example of its implementation?
